7.00pm in St.Mary’s on 28th September to enjoy a feast of local musical talent with soloists, school choirs, and adult ensembles and choirs – ending with the popular pieces styled upon the Last Night of the Proms.  In support of St.Mary’s Music.

All adults welcome for a bonfire and ‘Bring & Share’ supper at the Rectory on 1st November from 7.00pm.  Hosted by our men’s A.Men and women’s SMILE groups.

A new group will start on Wednesday 2nd October for eleven weeks in the autumn as follow on for those who’ve already participated in an Alpha Course and who may not yet have joined a Home Group.  If you’ve been to Alpha and would be interested in this for the Autumn then please have a word with Andy Norris, thanks.

ADULT BAPTISM  20th October

We’re pleased to be planning a Baptism service for adults during Church Alive on 20th October.  If you would like to consider being baptised as an adult then please soon have a word with Andy Norris, thanks. We may need a few sessions for preparation for any who may not have recently attended an Alpha course.

Both in the Bible and in church life it is small groups of a dozen people meeting in homes which offer the key place of belonging within a church; much like Jesus and his 12 disciples!   They afford the place of caring relationships, friendship and growing of our faith through scripture and prayer in a much deeper way than Sunday services alone can offer.  In this respect they are the bedrock of christian life and foundational to personal and church growth – especially in larger churches where it is hard to know everyone or be known!   If you want that ‘sense’ of belonging then the key place to ‘belong’ is through one of our midweek groups.

With 8 groups on Tues, Weds, Thurs & Fridays there should be a time to suit most folk, and September is a great time to start.  You could just visit and see if it is for you or not.   Andy Norris or Diana Dow would be delighted to hear from you if you’d like to join a Home Group. Please contact them, ideally by email – thank you.

NEWS of a Former St. Mary’s Organ Scholar

Congratulations to former St. Mary’s Organ Scholar Alex Wilson, now Organ Scholar at Worcester College Oxford, on achieving the top marks above all his contemporaries in the recent Royal College of Organists Associateship exams. Well done Alex, ARCO!

Chris’s Induction as Vicar

A group of 35 travelled from the parish to support Chris & Abbie Richardson at a very moving service in their new church of St.Martin’s Camberley on Thursday night.  It was a pleasure to pray and praise with the folks of St.Martin’s, the Bishop of Guildford, and all who’d gathered from that diocese and community.  Please pray for Chris on this first Sunday leading worship in his new post.

St.Mary’s needs you!   Please save the date.

Many Thanks to those who’ve volunteered to help at the Fayre…

7 for the draw, about 20 for the 10p Family Fun Fete.  Others would still be valued helping with those activities – but we do especially need to provide three more ‘Stewards’ for the overall fayre.

Three Stewards Needed… if this could be you then please sign the new list at the back of St.Mary’s – that would be very kind, thank you.  Stewards report to the Festival Chairman, Colin Davey.

contact Kate Hedges at the school on 02392 583872

You’ll notice the works being undertaken in preparation for installing the glazing both to the Tower and to the Chapel.  The scaffolding poses a risk so please take great care.  The joiners are currently templating the shape so that the glass fits snuggly in to the arches.  The scaffold will remain for a number of weeks.

Don’t forget to use the ‘Welcome’ collage photo postcards at the back of church – they’re available during services if you want to give your details to someone for an invitation to coffee etc, or to use to invite someone to come along with you, or…
