Whether to regular worship, Candlemas or our courses – an invitation makes all the difference!
Please take and use the Marriage Course, Christianity Explored and New Year leaflets and cards to invite friends for whom these activities will be a blessing.
NB – the marriage leaflets were FREE following the order of our Christmas cards which themselves cost less than in the past!

MEN’S CURRY NIGHT
Alverstoke Men (A.men) are invited to a curry night at The New Bengal Curry House on Weds 18th Jan at 7pm. We hope that you can come for a great night out! RSVP Revd Chris Richardson so he can book a table.
Our weekly fellowship and Bible study starts back at 7.15pm on Thursday 26th January in the Parish Centre.
THE MARRIAGE COURSE
Take the new leaflet. Reserve your table with the Church Office for the first evening as a taste and see without obligation! Marriage enrichment courses for couples prove to be invaluable whether married for 2 or 20 years and more. Invest in your relationship at our 7 week course on Wednesday evenings from 1st February. Especially calling the ‘men’ to suggest this – don’t leave it to the woman in your life to worry about how to ask you to go! After the first evening then £10 per couple.
CHRISTIANITY EXPLORED COURSE
Can you say who Jesus is, why he came and what then is his purpose for you today? If not then join us in exploring these ultimate questions of faith at our next Christianity Explored Course starting on 2nd Feb 2017. Please use the special invitation cards for your friends.
GOSPORT UNITY SERVICE 22nd Jan
St.Mary’s is hosting a special Churches Together service at 6.30pm on 22nd January at the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Theme: Crossing Barriers.
CAKES… it would be lovely to express our hospitality to guests from across Gosport so any cakes would be very much appreciated on 22nd January – thank you. Plus, if a few folk could volunteer to help with refreshments that would be wonderful, thank you.
CHORAL EVENSONG for Candlemas
For Candlemas at 6.30pm in St.Mary’s on 29th January with the choir singing Stainer, Brewer and Harris cathedral music. A beautiful choral led celebration.

NEW PASTORAL CARE PROJECT for 2017
REACHING OUT WITH GOD’S LOVE
We seek to strengthen and complement our Home Communion and Bereavement teams by growing the pastoral care that we offer in our parish.
In addition we would like to set up a new lay visiting team by drawing together a team of people who will commit to visiting three people two or three times a year.
If you would like more information about these teams, and how you could be involved, please come to our introductory meeting on Sunday 29th January at 4pm in the Parish Centre Lounge for tea, coffee and cake, where we can explore together the role of our pastoral team, how the team would be supported to undertake this vital ministry, and how we will support each other as we grow our team. If you would like more information in the meantime, please feel free to contact Revd Chris through the church office on 9258 0551 or by email: email@example.com
COULD YOU BE A PCC MINUTE SECRETARY?
We seek a volunteer simply to take minutes at our meetings under the direction of the formal Hon.PCC Secretary, Phil Dray. This would be a very helpful and rewarding ministry. The next meetings are this Tuesday 10th January, 14th March and 11th April. Please have a word with the wardens, clergy or parish office if interested – thank you.
FAMILIES, CHILDREN & YOUTH MINISTRY
Whether as leaders or as parents, Andy invites those with an interest in how best we serve families with their children and youth to a meeting on Tuesday 17th January in the Parish Centre Lounge at 7.30pm. A forum to develop the vision for all we do and consider how we should best focus our time and energy in providing for the fellowship, nurture and growth in prayer and faith of our children and young people with their families. Any for whom this is important would be welcome.
