Please email Andy with the date you can help.

Teams wanted for our quiz and curry night in support of a charity which complements our Ethiopia partnership through its work in N. Kenya. Having raised £5000 for Ethiopia then spending an evening in support of this special charity in which one of our members, Michael Wheeler, is closely involved would complement our partnership very well. 20th May, Parish Centre at 7.30pm – Tickets £10 from Parish Office or email: quiznight20@gmail.com Bring own drinks!

Sadly the UKELELE BAND Cheese & Wine event has been cancelled, but alternatively, we still have the following concert:

Save our Centre CONCERT:
St. Mary’s Church, Sat 13th May 7.30pm with the very popular Paul Pilott Louise Helyer & Friends. Free Admission – anticipating a hearty Retiring Collection for our Parish Centre Regeneration Fund.

On 21st May & 18th June we’re going to try new Community Evensong services. Congregation members who are also members of community groups within the parish (hobbies, charities etc. – mindful that their values need to be in keeping with St.Mary’s) are encouraged to invite your group to have a special service of thanksgiving/celebration at Evensong. Group members could read lessons, select hymns, offer a welcome, share words of encouragement about the group, and, if familiar with praying, could offer the prayers. If you have a group you’d like to approach then please email Andy to get the ball rolling! If you’re part of a group which might prefer a more contemporary style of worship then please also get in touch to see if a time can be found in the future.
Your help is vital – can you make a short delivery walk to help us on behalf of Christian Aid? Some of you have helped us in the past and we would appreciate your assistance once again. However we need as much help as we can get to raise money to relieve poverty and famine. We have envelopes for delivery all over the village and all help is welcome. This can be done at any time before 20th May, suitable to yourself. During the week 14-20 May we will be collecting from some streets and where permitted in the village. Please help if you are available. Contact Philippa Harrap: nrpjhmum@aol.com or Peter Ford: fordvectis@btconnect.com or see us in St.Mary’s.

SUNDAY 30th April – 12noon-3pm Storage at St. Faith’s is being re-assessed. There are hundreds of items at St. Faith’s that are no longer used and we cannot store any longer. Do you have anything stored at St. Faith’s that you would like back. Perhaps you have lent some books or decorations to St. Faith’s in the past. If you have anything left at St. Faith’s we are inviting you to come and collect it from St. Faith’s on Sunday the 30th of April. Items affected by the initial Great Big St. Faith’s Sort-Out will be placed in the church hall ready for collection. Items not collected may be disposed of. Please note: 1. St. Faith’s isn’t being completely cleared-out. 2. Any item of significant historical value and memorial items will not be disposed of on this day. Any queries to Revd Tim Watson 023 9243 9737 revtimwatson@hotmail.com
The Faculty has been granted to allow for the pew removal to be made permanent, for the refurbishing of the exposed floors & walls, & for the provision of a stone floor & plinth to enhance the War Memorial; along with permission for the fitted carpets. A long process as the Chancellor considered the proposals & objections but now this project can continue to completion. The delay has impacted our timeline both in terms of the contractors holding the price & our parish stewardship for 2017 with the need to be able to focus on Parish Centre Regeneration Fundraising & general income. So, we hope to raise the sums needed to cover this work as soon as possible over this Easter season. We are blessed to be nearly half way towards the cost of this £20,000 project. Thank you for your support so far as we now seek to find the £11,000 balance through the auction and gifts described below:

PEW AUCTION 29 pews are available & bids for our fundraising auction are welcomed on the forms in St.Mary’s or in an envelope with your bid & full contact details to be received by 8th May (starting at £100 per pew please). We’d also be so very grateful to any who are happy and able to sponsor the works with a
DIRECT GIFT to ‘Shaping The Future’ either in the offertory in an envelope marked ‘Shaping the Future’ (cheques to ‘St.Mary’s Alverstoke PCC’ – using yellow envelopes if to be gift aided) or, we’d encourage the completing of the Pledge Form at the back of church (Gift Aid permission). For Bank Transfers, please use these bank details: Shaping the Future account called St.Mary’s Alverstoke PCC Acc: 02242708, Code: 30-93-56. Thank you very much indeed for all your support and understanding for the urgency of this appeal. We look forward to enjoying a tidy and spacious church to serve us in moving forward as a community in Christ.
