With a theme ‘You know me by name!’ at the start of a new autumn season we’d encourage all at St.Mary’s to wear a name badge for Sept/Oct. You may like to make one at home or, when you arrive, just make one at the table at the back of St.Mary’s – thank you.

If you fill in the slip and pop it in the small box at the back then Hilary Wilson has kindly offered to make proper badges.    Thank you Hilary.

Our pastoral visiting teams are again encouraging us all to invite someone in the congregations past or present for a cuppa or a supper – out and about or at home – during the week starting 9th Sept or thereafter! So let’s be invitational and get together with that extra someone/people expressing the Lord’s care for one another including those who can no longer get along on a Sunday.

Join a HOME GROUP this September

More details in a letter for all worshippers next Sunday.  We’d encourage all to belong to a small group in the church.  We will have at least 8 if not 9 groups this autumn meeting on Tues, Weds and Thurs – daytime and evening – so there should be one for you!

From Jo, our Families Minister…

On 16th we are celebrating those who have supported the journey in faith in others.  For some this will be in the specific role of a Godparent or Christian Sponsor whilst for others it will be as friends and family who have prayed over many years.  We have invited those who have been baptised or dedicated/Thanksgiving over the last year to come with their Godparents.  However, this is a great opportunity for us all to invite the people we have journeyed with in faith, as Godparents, Sponsors or in other ways.  We will think about the promises we’ve made,  how we are the family of God and how we can be faithful in mentoring a new generation in faith.  There will be special prayers at our 9.15am service whilst Church Alive will be focussed as an invitational Godparent service.

10p MESSY FAMILY FUN FETE Michaelmas Volunteers?

Last year our new innovation of the family fun in the church yard was very successful for the community.  But we need many helpers to express God’s welcome through running the dozen fete games.  Can you help us for some of the time between 12-4.00pm on 29th Sept?   If so then I’d love to hear from you or please sign the volunteer list at the back of St.Mary’s so I can be in touch – thanks, Jo.

KIDS ALIVE ON SUNDAYS  Our children’s groups are back!

@ 9.15am – young people’s group at the back corner.

@ Church Alive – Pre-schoolers in the Side Chapel with the creche area on the front carpet – whilst those of school age will need to register for the start of ‘term’ and go over to the Parish Centre for their activities in our two groups for Primary aged  children or secondary aged youth.

We will be looking for a parent helper each week to help facilitate this and some volunteers to help us cross the road safely for 5 min.

We look forward to a fun year ahead and look out for our new God’s Big Story theme starting at Harvest.

YOUTH  including new Youth Alpha

Youth is a big focus this term, we are teaming up with St Faith’s Lee-on-Solent to be able to provide a wider range of activities.  We will be starting our Youth Alpha Course on a Thursday evening from 20th September which will be a weekly group to eat and think about the basics of faith together.  Also our Saturday night Youth Group will increase to twice a month on 2nd and 4th Saturdays starting 22nd September at a new time of 7.00pm – 8.30pm.

Mondays 1.15pm-2.45pm in the Parish Centre.
