Plan now to join us for Alpha this Autumn!

We’re going to acquire the new and updated Alpha Course DVDs for our next course which shall start on Wednesday 4th October. Please make plans now to join us for what shall be a very inspiring exploration of faith in Jesus.
Who could you invite to come along with you?

We look forward to welcoming Bishop Christopher on Sunday 26th November for a special morning service including adult Baptism/Confirmation. Confirmation ‘expresses the laying on of hands’ after Baptism for the renewal of the Holy Spirit. The prayer said is ‘Confirm O Lord your servant with the Holy Spirit’. Like Pentecost, it is a wonderful celebration of faith, trust and the abiding life of God within us. Please have a word with the clergy if you’d be interested in getting Confirmed or Baptised on that occasion. For teenagers and adults this does require preparation. This entails the autumn Alpha Course for adults whilst Tim & Clare Watson will host a group for secondary school aged youth. Think about it now and have a word with the clergy for more information.

Following the first round of the pews being offered a few now remain and are available for any who would like to have one for a minimum donation of £100 (towards our current Shaping The Future project which will see the floors, walls and war memorial stone floor works done in August). Pews will be a made available for collection on 20th July from Haslar Hospital. If you would like a pew (similar to the one by the entrance we use in St.Mary’s) then please contact Peter Camp (petercamp@btinternet.com) or the Parish Office.

MICHAELMAS FAYRE ‘10p Messy Fun Fete’
As co-hosts with Gosport Rotary, St.Mary’s will be involved with the Michaelmas Fayre on 30th June. Please join us to help express God’s love through the hospitality offered at St.Mary’s on that day. In addition to the church being open with music and community concert at night, this year we shall also host a Ten Penny Messy Kids Fun Fete along the church pathway. We’ve a dozen exciting games, crafts and activities all at 10p or free. Being co-ordinated by Kay Howard, Chris Richardson and Libby Norris; please sign up to help when the list of stalls appears soon – thank you.

Very many thanks to those who sponsored our junior sailors last Sunday – the sponsored boat sailing perpetually covered over 30 nautical miles. Please let David Wright (club treasurer) or Peter or Vicki Metcalf have your sponsorship; thank you. This has helped the club acquire a Laser ‘Bug’!

We’re pleased to report that the total amount collected for Christian Aid Week was £2,736.84. Gift Aid amounts to £351.79 so the total amount raised will be £3,088.63. Thank you for all your generosity in achieving this excellent result and to the collection team for their faithful work.

Some of you are gifted in writing spiritual poetry and prose which can offer such inspired encouragement from the Lord. Sarah Savery (usually at both 9.15am & 10.45am) would be pleased to hear from you as she seeks to compile a simple book of poems from among the congregations and in
support of the new parish centre.
