THANKSGIVING SUNDAY Today
Today is our annual Thanksgiving Sunday when we’ll think about our stewardship and giving of money for 2019. We’re praising the Lord that we’re not asking for money now for this year – but looking ahead with information and inviting responses of giving for 2019. Leaflets for our preferred Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) which will be available. Thank you to all who’ve given so generously meaning that our books seem to be balancing in 2018 – whilst our vision is to grow further in sharing Jesus’ Good News in 2019!
PLEASE TAKE A LETTER FROM THE RECTOR
With more detail in the letter to all worshippers, today we shall reflect upon our church in the light of the Deanery Special Meeting last Thursday. A sense of imagining the church in the future and what this means for us as a community, in worship, mission and giving; and how we may respond to deanery plans to redraw parish boundaries, change staff deployment, and create hubs of mission.
RECTOR’S WEDNESDAY CONSULTATIONS
Until the end of November Andy will be in St.Mary’s Chapel from 3.00-4.00pm and 7.45-8.45pm each Wednesday to hear your ideas, chat, answer questions and pray with you about the plans for changing the deanery parishes and how it impacts us. Please read Andy’s letter/booklet available today.

NEW FAMILIES MINISTER
We’re blessed to have been able to appoint a new Families Minister so quickly and we’re delighted to say that we have offered the post to Kate Smyth. Kate has a long and faithful track record of serving the Lord in Gosport where she is well loved by many people; not least through the servant leadership she has given to the Aggie Weston’s naval charity in the town. Kate’s passion is outreach and we are privileged to be able to welcome Kate to our ministry team. Subject to the DBS safeguarding certificate, we expect Kate to take up her role on 9th November after which we’ll be able to formally welcome her.
CHRISTMAS BOOKLET #Follow The Star
There is a lovely booklet to give out to guests over Christmas. It introduces Jesus through a journey over the 12 days of Christmas. We have some 10,000 people visit us through December and Andy would love to be able to give the booklet to our guests. You can see the booklet at the back of St.Mary’s. Copies cost £1 each and if during October we can ‘crowd fund’ this through the gifts of those who’d like to contribute then we’ll give out as many as we can afford. if you’d like to donate then envelopes marked ‘Christmas Booklet’ in the offering or Office would be wonderful – thank you.
JO NORTHEY’S WELCOME TO EMSWORTH
All are invited to Emsworth’s Welcome Party for Jo and her family on Sunday 18th November at 3.00pm in their church hall, near St.James’ Church. All Welcome in support of Jo in her new role.
PRAYER CARE Every Sunday
Just a reminder that members of our prayer team are available to pray with anyone privately and confidentially about any matter from 10.15am-10.45am between the screens in St.Mary’s north aisle.
HAVE YOU GOT A BADGE ON?
We’re encouraging all at St.Mary’s to wear a name badge for Sept/Oct. You may like to make one at home or just make one at the table at the back of St.Mary’s when you arrive – thank you.
WOULD YOU LIKE A PERMANENT BADGE MAKING FOR YOU?
If you fill in the slip and pop it in the small box at the back then Hilary Wilson has kindly offered to make proper badges. Thank you Hilary.
