Plan now to join us for Alpha this Autumn!

PILGRIMS continues to follow ‘J John’s 10 course’ this Thursday – starting with refreshments at 7.15pm in the Parish Centre. An inspiring look at the 10 Commandments.
We look forward to welcoming Bishop Christopher on Sunday 26th November for a special morning service including adult Baptism/Confirmation. Confirmation ‘expresses the laying on of hands’ after Baptism for the renewal of the Holy Spirit. The prayer said is ‘Confirm O Lord your servant with the Holy Spirit’. Like Pentecost, it is a wonderful celebration of faith, trust and the abiding life of God within us. Please have a word with the clergy if you’d be interested in getting Confirmed or Baptised on that occasion. For teenagers and adults this does require preparation. This entails the autumn Alpha Course for adults whilst Tim & Clare Watson will host a group for secondary school aged youth. Think about it now and have a word with the clergy for more information.

‘Save our Centre’ DATES FOR THE DIARY:
6th October – Concert in the Church with the HMS Collingwood Volunteer Band, and the Military Wives’ Choir (Portsmouth) Tickets from July at the Parish Office.
21st October – Quiz & Supper Night
25th November – Barn Dance at Bay House

MICHAELMAS FAYRE ‘10p Family Fun Fete’
The fayre is from noon – 4.00pm on 30th September and we help to host it with Gosport Rotary Club. This year the congregation are invited to create some Family Fun with our own 10p Fete along the church path to the gate. It would be wonderful if we could run a dozen games and activity stalls which are accessible for children and their families – injecting some 10 penny fun to the fayre! Any ideas of stalls? We need to be planning now and we’d probably need 30 helpers – please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s if you’re up for this? We’ll host a short meeting to start planning on
Tuesday 27th June at 7.30pm in St.Mary’s Church.

The young people of our church Junior Sailing Club will be sailing on the creek from 8.00am to 8.00pm next Sunday 25th June. They’d value your sponsorship as they raise funds for a new dinghy. If you’d like to encourage them with your sponsorship then please sign the form at the back of St.Mary’s – thank you very much for your support.

Some of you are gifted in writing spiritual poetry and prose which can offer such inspired encouragement from the Lord. Sarah Savery (usually at both 9.15am & 10.45am) would be pleased to hear from you as she seeks to compile a simple book of poems from among the congregations and in
support of the new parish centre.

Works to make good St.Mary’s north and south aisle floor and walls and lay a stone step beneath the memorial will commence in August. Once the first set of pews have been offered to those who’d made their bids then any remaining pews will be made available. With the pews we will have raised some £14000 towards the bill of about £19000. Thank you very much to all who have supported this most recent ‘Shaping the Future’ project. Previous projects were the platform, kitchen etc, and the PA/AV system too.
