GWMH Parish Volunteer’s supper with STEVE

As well as Associate Minister in the parish Revd Steve Dent has been appointed by the hospital trust chaplaincy to join the team of local volunteers who serve the chaplaincy at the War Memorial Hospital.  Those from the church who serve as volunteers or staff at the hospital are invited to come and informally meet Steve & Jayne over supper at The Rectory on Tuesday 16th July at 7.00pm  For catering purposes please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s or RSVP if you’d like to come – thanks.

Chris is to be inducted as Vicar of St.Martin’s, Camberley, on the evening of Thurs 5th September.

It would be great to get along and support Chris and so we’re thinking about hiring a coach (tickets).  To see if that is viable please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s if you’d like to travel by coach for a great evening out together!  Then we’ll confirm details.

FAREWELL SUNDAY…  Chris’s last Sunday with us will be 11th August.  We shall enjoy a united morning service at St.Mary’s at 10.00am (combining Morning Prayer and Church Alive Communion) to have a big send off for the family.

FAREWELL LUNCH… The farewell service will be followed by coffee and then a ‘Bring & Share’ Lunch in the Parish Centre.  For the lunch please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s – including the list in the spaces for Salads, Vegetarian Dish, Glu Free Dish, Coronation Chicken, Desserts etc.  Let’s enjoy a sending off feast!

GIFT…If you’d like to contribute towards a leaving gift from us to the family to present on 11th Aug in thanksgiving for all that we’ve shared with Chris during his curacy then gifts in envelopes marked ‘Chris Richardson’ – or to the Office – would be very kind, thank you.

Acts 4v32:  ‘“they did not claim their possessions as their own, but they shared everything they had… in God’s grace.

St.Mary’s needs you!   Please save the date.

Can you help host a simple game at the 10p Family Fun Fete?

25 needed – please sign list at back – so we can add fun for all ages to the Fayre.  Over 1000 games were played in the church yard last year for 10p or free.  It’s not about making money but about creating joy and celebrating God’s love in community.

Kate Symth will co-ordinate the dozen or so activities ranging from face paints to quoits and bowls etc.

Also sign lists at the back for:

Four Stewards Needed for general or traffic duties – to report to Colin Davey, the Fayre Chairman.

Six to help with Fayre’s Main Draw – report to Michael Wheeler

There are also other jobs inside the church, parish centre, regeneration team etc., for which requests may come.

Because we share with the Rotarians in the overall hosting of the fayre we do need to offer more people to help run the event.  It is great that many of us participate through other charities and groups – but it does traditionally leave us falling short in offering helpers.  So even if you participate with another group could you still offer just an hour to the main church fayre team please? – that would be invaluable.
