NEW FOR MEN
Chaps are invited to put Sat 23rd April in their dairies for a ‘Cars ’n Curry’ night in the Parish Centre. We’ll order take away food – then race the radio controlled or Scalextric kit you bring along! After eating we’ll invite a guest to speak about God. Some may have other normal ‘model’ cars to put on show or none, no worries; just come for car chat – food – God chat, and bring your mates.
GROWING & PRAYING
Acts 2v46: ’They devoted themselves… to the apostles’ teaching, to fellowship… and to prayer’
40 MILES OF PRAYER!
Inspired by Jesus’ going off for quiet walks to pray, let’s see how many prayer miles we can do?
Sign the list for one day of Lent to commit to Walk a Mile from home praying for God’s loving blessing on the people of your local streets and community; or,
Sign the list to commit to Walk the Stokes Bay ‘Measured Mile’ with Prayer for the church and the parish.
On the lists it doesn’t matter if a number of people pick the same day – it’s the prayer that counts!
Some may even commit to pray everyday, either for a mile walk or from their home.
LENT WEDNESDAY PRAYER
A call to gather and seek God in prayer each Wednesday of Lent at either 2.00pm or 7.30pm in St.Mary’s. Health permitting, some may like to make each Wednesday a day of fasting too! The prayer gatherings will not be ‘formed’ acts of worship but rather times to learn to wait on God with others.
GROWING HEALING PRAYER MINISTRY
We seek to grow the team who can offer this ministry by sending some on a diocesan training event for parish Prayer Ministry Teams. Please have a word with Andy or Diana Dow if it might be for you? Sat 27th Feb at St.Jude’s Southsea from 9.30am- 3.30pm. There is a leaflet with booking form.

PARISH GIVING SCHEME TAKES OFF!
News from the Treasurer that now over 50 members have switched or started giving by the new Parish
Giving Scheme (PGS). This is making a huge
difference to the parish and, in addition to the gifts, PGS is immediately returning £925 tax to the parish every month which is transforming cash flow. Thank you to those who have taken up giving by PGS since October.
Please note that PGS is not just for tax payers – it simply is the simplest, safest and most strategic way of giving to the church as compared to cash in the plate, envelopes and Standing Orders. Hence this note is by way of a gentle
reminder to those who’ve said you’ve forgotten about it – and an encouragement to those who are anxious, inviting you to have a word with Tim, our Treasurer, to ease your worries.
Please don’t get us wrong because all ways of giving are wonderful as expressions of worship to God and so thank you so much for all that you give in God’s grace – all your giving is transforming our life and mission.
If you have not yet seen or have lost your ‘Giving Pack’ from October – then the pack envelopes are still available at the back of our churches – thank you so much.
There were a dozen parents and their children squeezing in the crèche area last Sunday! After a long trial, the PCC would love to lay a proper red carpet for the toddlers and parents in front of the Chapel in St.Mary’s rather than the carpet roll end which is curling up – hopefully one in the back children’s corner too! If there are any who think this is a great idea and would be willing to sponsor a m² or ft² that would be wonderful, thank you. Please put any donations in envelopes marked with ‘Carpet’ – a real blessing to families, thanks.
SUMMER QUILTING FESTIVAL

We enjoyed a marriage preparation course with eighteen couples yesterday – many thanks to the team who plan and host our weddings. Next preparation session is in March.
THE CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL
We’d love you to join! By your faith in Jesus you belong to his church – your baptism celebrates that belonging. But you can express ‘belonging’ to a local CofE congregation through our ‘Church Electoral Roll’. Why not sign up – it even gives you a vote at the annual meetings? Application Forms are at the back of church.
