‘You shall not murder.

WELCOME to Revd Hazel O’Sullivan
We’re so pleased to introduce Hazel to the parish today at 9.15am as a new member of our team of retired clergy. Married to James, Hazel moved to parish last year having served in both parish and chaplaincy ministry. Thank you for joining us Hazel!

Please join us on 29th January to explore Pilgrim book three: The Commandments. 7.30pm in the Parish Centre. All are welcome to the warm fellowship of this course and simple midweek act of worship. Please see leaflet for programme details – this week we look at the commandments printed above.

Tonight iNViTE Evening Praise & Worship
Coffee served before the service. For a couple of years the fourth Sunday evening service of each month has been ‘prayer and praise’. In refreshing this service, it will now be called INVITE.
You are invited to come this evening at 6.30pm in St.Mary’s when Tim Sharman will lead us with the worship group from LOGOS CHURCH.

Next Sunday St.Mary’s CANDLEMAS
We look forward to the celebration on 1st February when St.Mary’s will be ablaze with candles and floral decoration of the Flower Guild. 10.45am Church Alive will include Christingle and 6.30pm will be the special candlelight Candlemas Festal Choral Evensong.

For Candlemas, if you would like to donate £2 for a candle in memory of a loved one, please complete the form in our churches and return to the Parish Office by 26th Jan. Names are entered to the Memorial Book.

St Faith’s AGM is to be held on Sunday 15th February followed by a lunch when we shall bid our local farewell to Phil & Maggie. St.Faith’s is available for hire.

Special Debate on ‘Forgiveness & Reconciliation’ on 22nd March (postponed from Feb) at 11.15am. St.Francis’ AGM after worship on 22nd February. The church is available for hire through Kay Lancaster on 92522113. A reminder that our Prayer Cross is available for your requests. We collect old and new postcards for Mission Aviation, clean milk bottle tops for Guides, old clean towels, duvet covers, blankets for Stubbington Ark. Joy.

7th February – our Annual Spring Clean bringing own dusters, hoovers and mops etc… please! Our Girl Guides will be here as well. Please join us for this annual event – thank you. Peter Camp.

SPRING HARVEST 6-10 April 2015
A growing group, including teens, are planning to visit this Christian holiday conference for all at Butlins in Minehead. Indicate your interest today to Anne Ross or Libby Norris. See leaflet for more information.

Would you like to join our new team to lead assemblies in our primary schools? Contact Laura at Parish Office.

We are hosting couples for their preparation on 8th Feb and 8th Mar in the Parish Centre. Their time starts with lunch at 12.30pm. If any are able to assist in preparing (lasagne) and in serving the lunch please let Sue know in the Parish Office.

Thank you to Brian Russell and the team who hosted a book sale yesterday in support of our Kenya Partnership with the Diocese of Narok through Christian Aid to provide 5 new maternity units. Up to 31st Dec we have raised £2,199 for the project since Easter which leaves £3,701 to be raised by July 2016 so that the EU quadruple it to £20,000! Please see leaflets at the back for more information, a few more regular Standing Orders in favour of the link would very helpful indeed. Thank you so much for your support for one of the poorest regions of Africa with the highest maternal mortality.

OPEN MEETINGS to Discuss Communion
Last week’s PCC reflected on making a sustainable pattern of worship with regard to the number of communions (3.6 on average Sunday at the moment!) – for decision in March. This may mainly impact our St.Faith’s and 8.00am congregations. In thinking about this please come for tea/cake to the open meetings to chat with Andy on 1st & 12th February, 4.00pm in the Parish Centre, and after 10.00am communion at St.Faith’s on Thursday 12th February.

Tweaking the Current MONTHLY SERVICE PLAN
Please note that from February, St.Mary’s 9.15am Morning Prayer followed by Church Alive Communion will be on 2nd Sunday of month, rather than the third.

David & Tessa Bloodworth will host the sale of Tradecraft goods at St.Mary’s over coffee at 10.15am on 3rd Sunday each month from February (a switch back due to the change of day for Morning Prayer above).

Next Sunday we welcome Sue Lambert, a Reader from Christchurch Stoke Road, for a month’s placement ahead of a selection conference for ordination, to experience the range of our Sunday worship! Meanwhile, our own Sue Smith (Reader in Training) is on placement in Stubbington.

Our theme for all morning services at St.Mary’s in January until Lent at 8.00am, 9.15am and 10.45am:
Sunday 25th January: RESPECT
The honour shown within the family and respect for the sanctity of life.
Sunday 1st February : LIGHT
A step out of the Commandments for our Candlemas
celebrations including Christingle at Church Alive.
Sunday 8th February : RIGHTEOUSNESS
What about adultery and theft and their implications for
or our daily lives?
Sunday 15th February : RELIABILITY
What are the dangers of dishonesty and covetousness.
