for the Food and Basic Bank.   How about finding a box and

dividing it in to 24 tin/packet size sections so that each day you can place a food or toiletry item in to the slot? Maybe doing it when you give thanks at the time of a meal!   All boxes brought to church

before 12th January will be delivered to the Food & Basics Bank which tends to have low stock in the New Year – thanks!

Make a date in your diary for Sat 18th April for a walk starting in Walderton (W.Sussex) taking in some of the Octagon Parish Churches before an optional pub lunch!  About 7 miles.  Details in January, led by Jane & Huw Jones.

If any folk struggle to hear in St.Mary’s then we do have four sets of  ‘headphones’ which can be borrowed.  They work effectively off the loop system and we’d rather you felt comfortable to use them than struggle to hear.  They may be helpful when ‘noises off’ disturb too.

Could you be a school governor?  Please have a word with Andy.

PARISH CHRISTMAS CARDS: 4 days to deliver!

Please take a bundle of cards to post along the streets.

About 2/3rds of our cards have been delivered, thank you so much to those who’ve walked the streets.  We’re nearly there with about 50 roads left to invite before Thursday!   Bundles of our greetings cards are at the back of St.Mary’s.

If you can enjoy a nice walk along the roads, even praying for peace and blessing upon the residents as you post a card through their door, then your help would be invaluable – thank you.

To read, enjoy and give away…

We have 600 Christmas mags featuring both Tom Hanks and and the world’s top ranked goalkeeper, Liverpool’s Alisson, talking abut their faith and families.  An article on Christian life as an RAF Squadron Leader and the new CATS film – where TS Eliots story is one of forgiveness and healing!  A great read, so please take one both to enjoy and to give to a friend or neighbour along with our guests in church over Christmas.

breaks through £100,000!

We’re anticipating a favourable outcome from our planning application and we’re guided by planners that it may arrive on Christmas Eve!  So ‘thank you’ to all who’ve shared in the project so far – a great amount of work has brought us to this ‘threshold’ both in terms of the building, and in crashing through £100,000 of fundraising to make it possible.  Thank you.

If we have permission confirmed then the ‘hard work’ of funding the ‘building stage’ begins!   So we look forward to the range of events by which we enjoyed such friendship & entertainment during 2019.

A final repeat this Sunday – and thank you very much to those who’ve responded to this recent message…

We’re so grateful for all that is given in support of our life & ministry, mission & worship – thank you.

We have not had a general appeal for a good while due to our special fundraising in favour of the new Parish Centre along with the ‘crowd funding’ for the Families Minister post and our Africa Partnerships – thank you for all that is given.

At the Church Council there was thankfulness for the ‘grace’ of giving which is miraculously sustaining us in our day to day cost.  But those costs are increasing in 2020 – especially our ‘parish share’ towards the mission of the whole diocese going up to £134,037.  So members wondered if a ‘gentle’ reminder in this pew sheet might encourage some to review our ‘general’ giving and, if circumstances allow, increase it in keeping with inflation or whatever is possible!  Also an encouragement to use the ‘Parish Giving Scheme’ (PGS) for regular giving.  It is the tailor made scheme which works in favour of the giver and the church when compared to envelopes and Standing Orders.  New givers would especially be encouraged to sign up to the Parish Giving Scheme for which leaflets and forms are at the back of church.  But however you choose to give we’re very grateful, so thank you very much indeed for we are a self-funded charity where every penny does count and is an expression of our love for and worship of the Lord!  Thanks.

Please pray for families in anticipation of Funerals in St.Marys:

3.30pm Fri 13th Dec – Thanksgiving for Michael Wright
