Live Services and Covid-19

The church has been successfully hosting live services since since July.  Covid-Secure procedures are in place for the safety and confidence of guests.   Our building which can normally accommodate 400 people has been limited to 45 worshippers hence pre-booking is required by emailing or phoning the Parish Office (see ‘contact us’ page).   There is social distancing between seats and in the aisles, a one way system, hand and seat cleaning, Track & Trace information plus NHS App QR Code are all in place.  Masks are required to be worn at church worship services and we regret that there can be no ‘mingling’ for conversation within the church building.   Our services are simpler with no books etc, and are shorter.   But despite these necessary precautions our services have been very meaningful, prayerful and worshippful for those who have attended.  So we hope that you will have confidence to join us.  Please contact the Parish Office to let us know if you’d like to come.

8.15am   Communion (1st/3rd/5th wks) and Morning Prayer (2nd/4th wks)
(for stillness and said liturgy using Common Worship)

10.00am      Word & Worship
(informal celebration, the Bible and prayer with music)

11.15am     Communion
(Common Worship communion with music)

NB:  REMEMBRANCE –  Please note that the exception to the above times is on Remembrance Sunday 8th November when the only regular service will be  8.15am Communion.

As a congregation we cannot ‘sing’ at worship, but we can listen to live music with a few singers.  It is hoped that a small Worship Group will sing at 10.00am and a small Choir group at 11.15am.

All services will be ‘shorter’ than in the past (35 mins) and therefore ‘simpler’ in terms of some reduced content, movement, robing, location of communion, reduced paper, use of screens etc.

A separate programme of children’s/families activities is offered on Sundays.  Sitting in family bubble groups ‘Families Alive’ meets for Bible story, prayer and praise.  Please book in to this by the Parish Office or email enquiry box on the ‘contact us’ page; or link in to the ‘FamiliesAlive’ Facebook page.

In St.Mary’s the Chapel can be used as an isolated ‘safe space’ to take/sit with your baby or toddler if required during a main church service – but no ‘creche’ facility/group can be offered.

If possible please ‘book in’ via the Parish Office for the services so we can be sure of social distancing.

The Book of Common Prayer is not offered each week but we hope to offer some Choral Evensong services in due course when a fuller choir is possible.

Remembrance and Christmas are approaching and so we shall host some ‘special’ services to mark those occasions whilst we shall also continue to provide online worship through the autumn.   The streaming of live services is being explored for the future.

St.Mary’s current Wednesday Communion will continue at 10.30am each week; pre-booking is not currently required for this.

ON SUNDAYS WITH LEESLAND NEIGHBOURHOOD CHURCH in St.Faith’s – please check the LNC website or Facebook for details each week.

THURSDAYS AT ST.FAITH’S – 10.00am Communion for the main weekly act of worship at our church on Tribe Road in Leesland.
