A huge THANK YOU, to everyone who continues to support our fundraising efforts and to all the volunteers hosting such a fabulous range of events.
Gifts, donations, coffee mornings, events and the change collected in milk bottles have boosted the total raised by the end of June 2018 to £35,000! Thank you all. The amazing effort of 2017 surpassing our targets of £20,000 by the Michaelmas Fayre and £25,000 by Christmas has continued through 2018!
The milk bottles are gradually coming back filled with much appreciated change; by July 2018 they’d raised £1451 – all to prove that every penny counts!
Thank you to those who have returned their first bottles and then taken others to fill. If you have one in the kitchen – please share your change with it, and return it to the Parish Centre when it’s full!
PROGRAMME OF FUNDRAISING EVENTS in 2018…
The team have been busy planning the fundraisers for this year. We will be advertising these in as many publications, and places as we can – so keep a look out for the posters, and make sure you get your tickets early to avoid disappointment!!
We’ve enjoyed a stunning summer of events – concert, garden walkabout, Strawberry Lunch in addition to the regular coffee mornings.
Saturday 29th September – Michaelmas Fayre
We are booking two pitches: one selling handmade toys, the other an information desk for the regeneration project
Friday 5th October – Concert in the Church
With the Military Wives Choir, the Volunteer Band from HMS Collingwood; the Thorngate Players; Katie Rogers (Jazz Singer)
Saturday 17th November – The Barn Dance
A return to Bay House School for our popular and enjoyable Barn Dance.
From Ann, the Chair of Fundraising…
I would like to start by saying a huge thank you for all the support that you have given, and continue to give, to this project. I know we are scraping the surface of the huge amount of money that we need to raise, but we feel that an important side effect of the fundraising effort is that the wider community of Alverstoke is coming together, and enjoying a wonderful variety of social events. Let’s make sure that this community spirit grows with the fund.
The fund balance was around £7,500 at the start of 2017, and, thanks to the amazing efforts of everyone who has made personal donations, organised events, or attended events, coffee mornings, or filled milk bottles with change, we reached an amazing total of £26,993.53 in the bank at the end of December.
After a very busy year, the fundraising team have had a short break, and we are just about to start detailed planning for this year’s events.
The first event is our coffee morning on Tuesday 23rd January at 10.30 – 12.00. This will be in the Parish Centre, as usual. Please come along and get our fundraising year off to a great start. I have attached the poster covering the first three coffee mornings, and ask you to circulate this to all your contacts.
I have also attached the poster for the Beetle Drive on Saturday 10th February at 7pm. This will be a fun event for all the family, and is very good value at £10 per head, which includes Fish and Chips, a pudding, and tea/coffee. Tickets are available from the Parish Centre office – please let Sue or Tricia know if you need an alternative to fish.
We have started the New Year with a boost from the Waitrose Community Matters green token scheme. Waitrose have selected the Alverstoke Centre Regeneration project as one of the three options for Green Tokens for the month of January.
If you shop in Waitrose, please select a token and add it to our box. I’ll let you know the value of the green token scheme next month.
And now for some pleas for help – we desperately need someone to manage the raffles for our events – both collecting prizes, and running the raffles at fundraising events. Maggie Feist has done sterling work for us for the past 16 months, and is now taking a well-deserved break. Thank you , Maggie, for your huge contribution to our fundraising efforts.
We really need more help on the fundraising team, there are only 6 of us on the team, and we really need to spread the load across a few more willing helpers – if you can contribute ideas, time, and help at the events, then please contact me.
Chair, Fundraising Team
Update – April 2018
We have been granted £500 from HMS Sultan’s Charitable Fund, and are expecting a cheque for £501 from Waitrose Green token collection.
The Beetle Drive in February raised nearly £400, and we hope that all our planned events will raise more money.
Coffee mornings are continuing to raise around £250 per month, and I hope that we will raise around £7000 during the rest of this year from the events planned so far.
We’re grateful to local businesses and individuals who help sponsor and organise our range of fund raising activities; thank you all. Please see OUR BUSINESS SPONSORS page for more details.
From the Chair of the Fundraising Team…
We are especially appreciative of individual donations, and we will have some permanent record to commemorate the contribution from our community. Can you help us by making a donation?
You could set up a Standing Order – collect a letter from the Parish Centre – the standing order form is on the reverse.
If you prefer to make a donation by cheque, please make it payable to the Alverstoke Parish Centre Regeneration Fund.
You’d be welcome to contact me for more information.
