SPECIAL PRAYER MEETINGS THIS WEEK:

Tree Festival Prayer Requests… 10th Dec
You are invited to St. Mary’s Chapel at 10.00 on Tuesday Dec 10th to pray through all the prayer requests which will be hung on the Prayer Tree, the Bereavement Tree and the Baptism Tree during the Christmas Tree Festival.  Last year we had over 700 prayers to offer to God but we can manage this in about an hour because people are divided into small groups. It can be a moving experience because Christmas is a difficult time for many people. Please come if you can even if you can only spare 1/2 hour.

General Election Prayers… 11th Dec
On the eve of the election join us in St.Mary’s (Chapel) to intercede for our nation, politicians and government, as we go to the polls. Praying on Weds 11th Dec in St.Mary’s:
2.00pm to 4.00pm
6.00pm to 7.00pm

SERVING & GIVING
Acts 4v32: ‘“they did not claim their possessions as their own, but they shared everything they had… in God’s grace.”

GOSPORT ‘OPEN DOORS’ APPEAL
Can you the Mayor’s vision supporting the homeless with accommodation and food from 6th Jan to 29th Feb? ‘Open Doors’ will use different church venues rotating weekly to provide a bed, a hot meal and breakfast each night, a listening ear and assistance. The project seeks: camp beds (£60 to reuse next year!), new pillows, single quilts/covers/sheets and food donations – also games, batteries and books! With a training evening ahead, volunteer support is sought including care and health professionals; e.g. hairdressers and nurses. More info on a letter from the Mayor at the back of St.Mary’s or email: gosportopendoors@gmail.com Thank you.

? MONTHLY FORCES FAMILY TEAS?
Since the CofE signed the Armed Forces Covenant we have hoped to host a monthly activity for Forces personnel and their families. We want to serve those in the forces through those who are retired from the services ‘hosting’ teas, fellowship and activity under the guiding hand of Revd Jon and Carole Backhouse (Collingwood Chaplain). Our vision is to connect with military personnel and families – seeing them supported, encouraged and growing in faith. Any who share this vision for a 4th Sunday are invited to a meeting to start planning on Sun 5th January at 4.00pm in The Chapel. Retired services folk, those serving today or any who’d like to support them are welcome in anticipation of a first tea on 26th Jan!

To read, enjoy and give away…
CHRISTMAS ‘HOPE’ MAGAZINES
We have 600 Christmas mags featuring both Tom Hanks and the world’s top ranked goalkeeper, Liverpool’s Alisson, talking abut their faith and families. An article on Christian life as an RAF Squadron Leader and the new CATS film – where TS Eliots story is one of forgiveness and healing! A great read, so please take one to enjoy and then give to a friend or neighbour or church guests this Advent.
