Revd CHRIS RICHARDSON update

Chris is to be inducted as Vicar of St.Martin’s, Camberley, on the evening of Thursday 5th September.
We now know that spaces are limited in Chris’ new church for his induction purely because of the limited space (it’s a much smaller building than St Mary’s) and a high demand for spaces from his new congregation and the community whom he will serve. A coach, therefore, no longer seems viable. Taking a number of cars up to Camberley seems to be the way forward. Please watch this space for final arrangements.

FAREWELL SUNDAY… Chris’s last Sunday with us will be 11th August. We shall enjoy a united morning service at St.Mary’s at 10.00am (combining Morning Prayer and Church Alive Communion) to have a big send off for the family. We would really love to see you there!

FAREWELL LUNCH… The farewell service will be followed by coffee and then a ‘Bring & Share’ Lunch in the Parish Centre. We really hope that you will be able to come along – it would be a great delight to see you there! For the lunch please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s – including the list in the spaces for Salads, Vegetarian Dish, Gluten Free Dish, Coronation Chicken, Desserts etc. Let’s enjoy a sending off feast!

A GIFT FOR CHRIS AND HIS FAMILY …
If you’d like to contribute towards a leaving gift from us to the family to present on 11th August in thanksgiving for all that we’ve shared with Chris during his curacy then gifts in envelopes marked ‘Chris Richardson’ – or to the Office – would be very kind, thank you.

ANNUAL LUNCHTIME ORGAN RECITALS
Each Friday in August from 12.30pm-1.15pm. Tickets £5 (£4). With Daniel Moult (London & Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, David Price (Portsmouth Cathedral), Andrew Cleary (Bishop’s Waltham), Adrian Bawtree (Rochester Cathedral) & Stephen Farr (St.Paul’s, Knightsbridge).

MEN’S TAKE AWAY
Calling all chaps! Our informal men’s group, A.MEN (Alverstoke Men) invites you enjoy a take away night (or just a drink) in the company of other chaps from 7.00pm on 6th September. You’re welcome to bring your own drink or snacks, and we’ll order from different ‘take aways’ at 7.15pm. Just turn up or details from Deane Street or Kim Beazley. At Kim’s home on Peel Road.

Save the date -1st November: Adult Bonfire at the Rectory (hosted by A.Men & SMILE groups together)

Working Towards a New Parish Centre…

Coffee, Cake & Co. Tues 23rd July
We’d value your company every 4th Tuesday of the month
from 10.30am-noon in the Parish Centre. £2.50 for coffee and cake. Cakes & books for sale. A great buzz and meeting place.

SERVING & GIVING
Acts 4v32: ‘“they did not claim their possessions as their own, but they shared everything they had… in God’s grace.”

MICHAELMAS FAYRE 28th September
St.Mary’s needs you! Please save the date.

Can you help host a simple game at the 10p Family Fun Fete?
25 needed – please sign list at back – so we can add fun for all ages to the Fayre. Over 1000 games were played in the church yard last year for 10p or free. It’s not about making money but about creating joy and celebrating God’s love in community.
Kate Symth will co-ordinate the dozen or so activities ranging from face paints to quoits and bowls etc.
Also, please sign lists at the back for:
Four Stewards Needed for general or traffic duties – to re-port to Colin Davey, the Fayre Chairman.
Six to help with Fayre’s Main Draw – report to Michael WheelerThere are also other jobs inside the church, parish centre,
regeneration team etc., for which requests may come.
Because we share with the Rotarians in the overall hosting of the fayre we do need to offer more people to help run the event.
It is great that many of us participate through other charities and groups – but it does traditionally leave us falling short in offering helpers. So even if you participate with another group could you still offer just an hour to the main church fayre team please? – that would be invaluable.
