CONGRATULATIONS to Erica and to Steve

PICNIC FOR STEVE: Sunday 14th July from 12.30pm at Stokes Bay (Grass or beach off GAFIRS car park – Rectory if wet!)

GWMH Parish Volunteer’s supper with STEVE

Revd Steve Dent is being appointed by the hospital trust chaplaincy to join the team of local volunteers who serve the chaplaincy at the War Memorial Hospital alongside being appointed by the Bishop to serve in the parish. As well as staff, there are a number of volunteers from the church who serve the hospital through the League of Friends or through the chaplaincy.  Those involved in these ways at the hospital are invited to come and informally meet Steve & Jane over supper at The Rectory on Tuesday 16th July at 7.00pm  For catering purposes please sign the list at the back of St.Mary’s or RSVP Parish Office if you’d like to come – thanks.

Revd CHRIS RICHARDSON

Chris’s time in this parish is now complete and we’re delighted to announce that he has been appointed to become Vicar for the Parish of St.Martin, CAMBERLEY.  Arrangements are still to be formalised but at this stage we’d anticipate a move away from Alverstoke during the summer holidays for a September start.

St.Martin’s looks like a very loving and missional church and we pray that this will be a very happy move.  Even so, we’re sure that Chris & Abbie, James & Kate would value your prayers at this time of anticipating change of home, church, school & work.

GIFT…

If you’d like to contribute towards a leaving gift from us to the family and to present on their ‘last Sunday’ in thanksgiving for all that we’ve shared with Chris during his curacy then gifts in envelopes marked ‘Chris Richardson’ – or to the Office – would be very kind, thank you very much.

SERVING & GIVING

Acts 4v32:  ‘“they did not claim their possessions as their own, but they shared everything they had… in God’s grace.

ST.MARY’S GLAZING  – display & drop-ins

Glazing of the Chapel and also of the Tower arch has long been part of the ‘Shaping the Future’ vision for St.Mary’s.  The needs for this to happen have become more pressing both in terms of our inability to use the main Tower door much of the time around our congested ‘welcome area’ because of the weather exposure and wind vortex created by the tower; and for the chapel because of the noises-off now that it is so heavily used on a Sunday – whilst it is prayerfully used at 8.00am Morning Prayer and during the week.

With thanks to all who’ve steadily given to the fund we’re now in a position for the ‘Shaping the Future’ account to allow the glazing to go ahead.  Please see the display in St.Mary’s for plans and detail.

As we apply for a Faculty for these works so we will hold two open drop-in consultations for any who are interested on Tues 9th July at 2.00pm and Weds 10th at 6.00pm.

If a Faculty is approved then we hope that glazing work will be complete before winter sets in!

MICHAELMAS FAYRE 28th September
