Revd CHRIS RICHARDSON
Chris’s time in this parish is now complete and we’re delighted to announce that he has been appointed to become Vicar for the Parish of St.Martin, CAMBERLEY. Arrangements are still to be formalised but at this stage we’d anticipate a move away from Alverstoke during the summer holidays for a September start.
St.Martin’s looks like a very loving and missional church and we pray that this will be a very happy move. Even so, we’re sure that Chris & Abbie, James & Kate would value your prayers at this time of anticipating change of home, church, school & work.
If you’d like to contribute towards a leaving gift from us to the family and to present on their ‘last Sunday’ in thanksgiving for all that we’ve shared with Chris during his curacy then gifts in envelopes marked ‘Chris Richardson’ – or to the Office – would be very kind, thank you very much.

ST.MARY’S GLAZING – display & drop-ins
Glazing of the Chapel and also of the Tower arch has long been part of the ‘Shaping the Future’ vision for St.Mary’s. The needs for this to happen have become more pressing both in terms of our inability to use the main Tower door much of the time around our congested ‘welcome area’ because of the weather exposure and wind vortex created by the tower; and for the chapel because of the noises-off now that it is so heavily used on a Sunday – whilst it is prayerfully used at 8.00am Morning Prayer and during the week.
With thanks to all who’ve steadily given to the fund we’re now in a position for the ‘Shaping the Future’ account to allow the glazing to go ahead. Please see the display in St.Mary’s for plans and detail.
As we apply for a Faculty for these works so we will hold two open drop-in consultations for any who are interested on Tues 9th July at 2.00pm and Weds 10th at 6.00pm.
If a Faculty is approved then we hope that glazing work will be complete before winter sets in!

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK 2019 Total
A big thank you to all the volunteers and the many people who made donations to Christian Aid Week which raised £1650 this year. A little more may come in and also, having received the envelopes you posted through the door some people did give directly online. So thank you all again for your fabulous support and to Philippa Harrap and Peter Ford who coordinated the week for us.

MICHAELMAS FAYRE 28th September
St.Mary’s needs you! Please save the date.
Because we share with the Rotarians in the overall hosting of the fayre we do need to offer more people to help run the event.
It is great that many of us participate through other charities and groups – but it does traditionally leave us falling short in offering helpers. So even if you participate with another group could you still offer just an hour to the main church fayre team please? – that would be invaluable. We need to provide different roles – like stewards, roads, tickets, moving tables/chairs, brochure, 10p Family Fun Fete (hosting family games and activities), refreshments etc. In advance those preparing the brochure (Mike Critchley) and main draw (Michael Wheeler) may also value some extra help. We’ll put a list out from July for signing up to roles and times. Thank you.
THE PRAYER CHAIN
exists to support those needing prayer through a confidential network of caring parishioners. Call Sue Stacey on 023 92 583167.

There are 7 young people who are very chatty and full of beans! If you’d value serving young people in this way then please get in touch.
THE ALVERSTOKE TRUST…

ST.MARY’S NAME BADGES
Just a reminder for St.Mary’s congregation that we do encourage the wearing of a simple name badge. They do help the overall welcome and atmosphere, whilst being of particular benefit and service to those of us who are a bit forgetful! Thank you for your help in this.
