I recall being moved by the sense of ‘community’ and ‘buzz’ engendered by the Garden Walkabout last year. For one afternoon 100’s were roaming the village – holding their brochure map as they made their way to the next garden – and chatting as they bumped in to those headed in the opposite direction – enjoying many fabulous local gardens and teas! I wondered what it would be like but my verdict was that it was ‘brilliant’, a real thumbs up – with hope that it could be repeated.
The great news is that this year two days of Walkabout are not to be missed on 6th – 7th July. The brochure (combines as ticket and map) allows entry to 15 gardens over both days. Teas, cakes and plants in The Parish Centre from where the brochures (£5 per adult <15 free) can be purchased – or at the gardens. Many Thanks to those who are welcoming guests and opening their gardens this year – it’s very kind of you. This is all to help us towards the new Parish Centre for which we’re about to seek planning permission this summer.
So, whether or not you have ‘green fingers’ you’ll certainly be putting your thumbs up if you join the Walkabout this year – hope to see you!
