Please take remaining bundles of cards to post along the streets. Street Bundles of our greetings cards are at the back of
St.Mary’s for posting along yours and all the the roads of the parish ahead of the Christmas Tree Festival which starts on Thursday!
If you can enjoy a nice walk along the roads, even praying for peace and blessing upon the residents as you post a card through their door, then your help would be invaluable – thank you. The homes use about half the cards – the other cards go to the schools, care homes, etc, with some available in our churches.

non-festive pots plus some tree hanging decorations. They’ll make great gifts or bowls for your Christmas snacks! Sold in support of our Aftrica Partnerships in Ghana and Kenya. In 2018 we were able to send £2500 to each of the two partners – thank you all.
LICENSING HAZEL as SENIORS MINISTER
We’re delighted to announce that on 27th January we look forward to the Archdeacon visiting the parish to License Revd Hazel
O’Sullivan to be our parish ‘Seniors Minister’. This role is one we’ve sought arising out of our Mission Action Plans (just like the Pioneer and the Families Ministers). Although a ‘self-supporting’(SSM) role, the Bishop’s licence means that Hazel becomes a full Associate Vicar in the parish and in this role she will both:
oversee ministry and mission among Seniors in the parish (in this context a Senior is anyone of approximately Saga age +).
and, as previously explained, review and oversee the worship at 9.15am with a view to refreshing the services.
This is very exciting news and we are grateful to Hazel for stepping up to this role in the parish. As we look to her formal appointment and beyond, Hazel will be delighted to chat with anyone interested in volunteering to work alongside her, or seeking support, in this ministry. You don’t need to be a church-goer. You can contact her on email firstname.lastname@example.org or through the church office.
NEW THURSDAY HOME GROUP 7.00pm
An eighth home group is just starting. It will meet weekly from 7.00pm-8.300pm in Penn Way at the home of Jan & Blair Norman. Seeking three or four others to join the group which will have its second relaxed meeting on 16th December; then weekly from January during term time. Please have a word with Andy Norris or directly with Blair and Jan if you would like to join in. We thank the Lord that membership of Home Groups has now almost doubled this autumn to 104 people enjoying fellowship in the small groups.
NEW ‘COLLAGE’ WELCOME POSTCARDS
Our photo ‘collage’ postcards have arrived! The cards are designed to be invitational cards with a space to write on the back. Please use them – eg, you might meet someone in church for the first time and share details to meet up for coffee or supper – or you might write an invitation to a friend to join you for the Christmas Tree Festival or to remind them of your ‘care and thoughts’, or…?
ALPHA COURSE 2019 – advance notice
Please note for your diary that our next Alpha Course will start with a ‘Fish n Chip’ supper on Thurs 28th February through to Easter.
DO YOU ENJOY MAKING FORMS? Help!
We need to update a dozen church ‘booking’ forms for 2019 in terms of GDPR etc for our Weddings, Baptisms, Funerals + more.
If you enjoy word-processing /publisher and can help us get 6
wedding forms ready this side of Christmas then we’d be pleased to hear from you. Thank you very much. Kathryn & Andy

GARDEN WALKABOUT 2019 – in your garden?
Back by popular demand, next year’s Alverstoke Garden
Walkabout will be on the weekend of 6th and 7th July – and we need more gardens! If would like to share your garden with the local community on either or both of those afternoons, please drop your details into the Parish Office who will pass them onto the
Walkabout team. Last year’s ‘openers’ enjoyed it so much that they want to do it again, I do hope we can add you to our list, too!
SUNDAY PRAYER MINISTRY Would you value praying with someone? The opportunity for confidential prayer is offered every Sunday in St.Mary’s between the morning services. The prayer is offered at the very front, behind the ‘screen’ in the Sanctuary by the Lord’s Table.
