10,000 PARISH CHRISTMAS CARDS: TODAY

Please take a bundle of cards to post along the streets.

Street Bundles of our greetings cards are at the back of

St.Mary’s for posting along yours and all the the roads of the parish ahead of the Christmas Tree Festival which starts in 11 days!

If you can enjoy a nice walk along the roads, even praying for peace and blessing upon the residents as you post a card through their door, then your help would be invaluable – thank you.  The homes use about half the cards – the other cards go to the schools, care homes, etc, with some available in our churches.

Eleven days to go!

GROWING, FELLOWSHIP & EATING

Acts 2v46: ’They devoted themselves… to teaching, fellowship… prayer…and ate together with glad and sincere hearts’

NEW ‘COLLAGE’ WELCOME POSTCARDS

Our photo ‘collage’ postcards have arrived!  One home group used them to ‘pray’ for the church and community when they met this last week.  The cards are designed to be invitational cards with a space to write on the back.  Please use them – eg, you might meet someone in church for the first time and share details to meet up for  coffee or supper – or you might take one to write an invitation to a friend to join you for the Christmas Tree Festival or at church one Sunday – or ?

NEXT MESSY CHURCH This Thurs 29th Nov

Join us at Messy Church this Thursday 29th at 3.30pm in the Parish Centre for children and their adults; for games, craft, stories, worship and a hot cooked tea!  (ie,the treat of no cooking or

washing up for parents!)  Come and enjoy.

NEW HOME GROUP!  This Thurs

We shall be launching a third new group on 29th Nov at 7.45pm – hosted by Blair & Jan Norman but with members needing to co-share in leading Bible discussions, prayers, activity etc.  Please have a word with Andy Norris if you are interested, thank you.

CUPPA & COMPANY  This Tuesday

In the Parish Centre between 2pm and 3pm.  Fabulous support serving any who are bereaved – simply pop in or take a friend to enjoy a cuppa and home made cake!  Every fourth Tuesday.

FROM KATE SMYTH – FAMILIES MINISTER

CHEF!  Can you help cook a simple meal for 8-10 hungry young people?  I’m looking for willing volunteers to cook for our Youth Alpha on Weds 5pm-6.30pm. If you feel this is something you could do on a rota then please come and see me ASAP.  Thank you.

A massive Thank You for making me feel VERY VERY welcome as I settle into the Families Minister role. So so many new faces plus groups that go on during the week – I am amazed at how busy the Parish is!   I have a lot to learn and find out so please be patient with me! Please come and say Hello!      Kate

Working Towards a New Parish Centre…

Coffee, Cake & Co.  Tuesday 27th Nov

Our monthly coffee morning is becoming a valued gathering place each month and returns over £250 to the project.  So please come, we’d value your company every 4th Tuesday of the month from 10.30am-noon in the Parish Centre.  £2.50 for coffee and cake.  Cakes & books for sale.  A great buzz and meeting place.

PLEASE SEE THE NEW CENTRE PLANS IN CHURCH

THE CONSULTATIONS

Local residents and interested parties visited the public consultations in the Parish Centre to look at the plans over the past two week.  Although not large numbers the questions, comments and ‘encouragements’ to move ahead were very welcome.  The plans remain on display in the Parish Centre lobby and in St.Mary’s.

PCC DECISION

The PCC are very grateful to the Regeneration Team for the fabulous and hard work that they have done.  The PCC were pleased to endorse the emerging plans and to commend  them for the next stage of seeking Planning Permission.  Thank you to everyone who is ‘sponsoring’ this project in so many and varied ways – your help and commitment is invaluable so that any new centre will truly be a ‘servant’ of the community.

ASDA GREEN TOKENS this Autumn!

Please place yours in our regeneration slot when you Asda shop!_____________________________________________

SUNDAY PRAYER MINISTRY – Now at FRONT

Would you value praying with someone?  The opportunity for confidential prayer is offered every Sunday in St.Mary’s between the morning services.  The prayer will now be offered at the very front – behind the small ‘screen’ in the Sanctuary by the Lord’s Table.

HAVE YOU GOT A BADGE ON?

We’re encouraging all at St.Mary’s to wear a name badge. Home made or at the table at the back when you arrive – thanks for this.

WOULD YOU LIKE A PERMANENT BADGE MAKING FOR YOU?

If you fill in the slip, request a background picture, and pop it in the small box at the back then Hilary Wilson will make a proper badge for you!

CANCELLED: RECTOR’S CONSULTATIONS  Following the good number in attendance when the Archdeacon visited it seems that there is no longer a need for the Wednesday consultations with Andy about the ‘Gosport’ parish strategy. Many Thanks to all who’ve been along and shared your thoughts.
