We’re very grateful to Gosport Men’s Shed for making the silhouetted soldiers for us by which to mark the centenary of the armistice.  Also to the Scrap Happy and the Alverstoke Quilters and WI sewing groups for the hand made poppies on the Lych Gate, Parish Centre and in the village.  A creative tribute & commemoration – thank you.

Gosport Strategic Development

ARCHDEACON TO VISIT – 14th Nov

Archdeacon Gavin is going to visit us to talk about with us the Gosport Strategy – he is coming for the Wednesday night consultation in St.Mary’s on 14th Nov. from 7.30pm.  All welcome to listen, share, reflect, ask questions and pray.

GOSPORT STRATEGY PRAYER TIMES

Each Friday during November from 6.00pm-6.30pm in St.Mary’s Chapel – hosted by Diana Dow.

PLEASE TAKE A LETTER FROM THE RECTOR

If you’ve missed it – catch up with the deanery strategy consultation by reading Andy’s October letter to the congregations.  A sense of imagining the church in the future and what this means for us as a community, in worship, mission and giving; and how we may respond to deanery plans to redraw parish boundaries, change staff deployment, and create hubs of mission.

RECTOR’S WEDNESDAY CONSULTATIONS

Until the end of November Andy will be in St.Mary’s Chapel from 3.00-4.00pm and 7.45-8.45pm each Wednesday to hear your ideas, chat, answer questions and pray with you about the plans for changing the deanery parishes and how it impacts us.  See letter.

We’re blessed to have been able to appoint a new Families Minister and are delighted to introduce Kate Smyth who will take up the post this Friday 9th November.  Kate has a long and faithful track record of serving the Lord in Gosport where she is well loved by many people; not least through the servant leadership she has given to the Aggie Weston’s naval charity in the town.   Kate’s passion is outreach and we are privileged to be able to welcome Kate to our ministry team (technically still just waiting for the DBS to arrive!).

Last Sunday today for donations:

CHRISTMAS BOOKLET  #Follow The Star

There is a lovely booklet to give out to guests over Christmas. It introduces Jesus through a journey over the 12 days of Christmas.  We have a footfall of some 10,000 visiting us through December and Andy would love to be able to give the booklet to our guests.   You can see the booklet at the back of St.Mary’s.  Copies cost £1 each and if during October we can ‘crowd fund’ this through the gifts of those who’d like to contribute then we’ll give out as many as we can afford.  if you’d like to donate then envelopes marked ‘Christmas Booklet’ in the offering or Office would be wonderful – thank you so much.  Let’s see how many we can give away praying that every gift book would bring the hope of the gospel to many.

PRAYER CARE  Every Sunday

Just a reminder that members of our prayer team are available to pray with anyone privately and confidentially about any matter from 10.15am-10.45am between the screens in St.Mary’s north aisle.

HAVE YOU GOT A BADGE ON?

We’re encourage all at St.Mary’s to wear a name badge. You may like to make one at home or just make one at the table at the back of St.Mary’s when you arrive – thank you.

WOULD YOU LIKE A PERMANENT BADGE MAKING FOR YOU?

If you fill in the slip, request a background picture, and pop it in the small box at the back then Hilary Wilson will make a proper badge for you!
