We’re so pleased that sixty members enjoy meeting regularly in our midweek Bible Fellowship Groups (BFGs)/Home Groups. In fact another forty people have joined our midweek termly courses in the past year too! Both in the Bible and in church life it is such small groups of a dozen people meeting in homes which offer the key place of belonging within a church; much like Jesus and his 12 disciples!
They afford the place of caring relationships, friendship and gro-wing of our faith through scripture and prayer in a much deeper way than Sunday services alone can offer. In this respect they are the bedrock of christian life and foundational to personal and church growth – especially in larger churches where it is hard to know everyone or be known! If you want that ‘sense’ of be-longing then the key place to ‘belong’ is through one of our mid-week groups.
Through August we will be seeking to strengthen our small groups for the start of the Autumn. Andy Norris, Chris Richard-son or Diana Dow would be delighted to hear from you if you’d like to join a group in September.
Please contact them, ideally by email, and they’ll get back to you later in August to put you in touch with a group.

GOSPORT TO GALILEE …
A message from Mike Critchely:
A once in a life time visit to the Holy Land for you in 2019? I was a guide in the Garden Tomb Jerusalem a few years ago and am returning to that amazing area with a group from Gosport churches in the Spring. The full 11/12 day holiday is organised by Oak Hall Christian holidays who have been doing these tours for 40+ years. You are invited to come to The Parish Centre, Green Rd, Gosport PO12 2ET at 3pm on Sunday 9th Sep-tember 2018 to pick up a brochure, discuss the programme and of course confirm the price which will include flights, hotels, transfer & tours, guides, tips plus Breakfast and Dinner daily. (It will be about £1600 per person sharing a twin/ double room… with shared coach/minibus travel to Heathrow from Gosport and the local area as a small “extra”) We are hoping to travel just after the very busy Easter period. Please write if you would pre-fer the final details by e mail.
Any queries to Mike Critchley 07977 534949 or Peter Cunningham 02392 589731
AFRICA PARTNERSHIP SPEAKERS
We look forward to welcoming Henry Pomeroy to preach at St.Mary’s on 23rd September. Henry is a director of CHASE Africa. Michael Wheeler will address St.Francis on 30th Sep-tember as a Trustee of CHASE Africa. We shall welcome a Christian Aid speaker in Spring 2019. All our gifts are for both partners.
‘COME AND SING’ INVITATION
Musical adults and children are invited to our OPEN CHOIR REHEARSALS on Thursdays in August 7.00-8.00pm in St.Mary’s (entry by vestry door). Join us to find out about sin-ging in the choir.
IN MEMORY OF KAY LANCASTER – Chairs!
We hope that Kay’s many friends may like to help us remember her through a significant refurbishment project in St.Francis’ for which we are seeking donations in her memory throughout Au-gust. We shall see what Kay’s memorial fund totals in Septem-ber with a view to purchasing six arm chairs and towards repla-cing as many other chairs as possible – ideally 30. Kay did in fact start the research in to providing new chairs for St.Francis’ and such a resourcing memorial seems to be a very fitting in-vestment for the future mission and worship of the church in her memory. The whole project may cost about £3000 and so any gifts for St.Francis’ via the Parish Office or to Beverly Harris (St.Francis’ Treasurer) from those who cherished Kay would be very much appreciated.
