St.Francis’ congregation are pleased to welcome Revd Colin Chambers to preach today whilst next week they welcome Brian Cossins from Gosport Street Pastors for their charity sunday.

FOR CHILDREN at St.Mary’s Services
SOFT ACTIVITY BAGS: Found at the back for children to use in the pews at all services, especially those without a group activity.
SHEET: A sheet is at the back or may be offered by welcomes as chlldren arrive. This has colouring one side and activities relevant for the Sunday on the other, plus a ‘family time’ section to share.

VESTRY: From today the ‘Explorers’ Primary aged Children will be going through to the vestry.  This means we need to recruit a willing band of DBS cleared adults to help assist, might that be you?
Your job would be to go through and offer support to the leader. We will help you so please let us know if you occasionally help!

LEESLAND NEIGHBOURHOOD CHURCH
Please pray for the new faith community emerging from Leesland for Leesland. A very encouraging start for the 30 or so folk who are exploring what it means to journey in faith together. Please pray for Tim & Clare Watson in their pioneering ministry and their team, including the new Toddlers Group at St.Faith’s.

ST.FAITH’S COMMUNION
You’re invited to midweek communion at St.Faith’s each Thursday at 10.00am followed by refreshments. Our Mothers’ Union branch also attend on the first Thursday of each month as they enjoy communion together.

COFFEE, CAKE & Co. Tuesday 24th
We’d value your company on Tuesday. Every 4th Tuesday of the month from 10.30am-noon in the Parish Centre. £2.50 for coffee and cake. Cakes & books for sale.
Curry & Quiz Night Saturday 19th May
A regeneration quiz with a ‘Right Royal’ round – a choice of chicken and ‘free from’ curries and pudding.  The tickets for the Curry and Quiz night are now on sale at the parish office costing £10 which includes curry and pudding (with quiz, of course). Please bring your own drinks and glasses. We’d love to see you there.

Alverstoke Garden Walkabout Sun 17th June
Fourteen local residents have agreed to open their lovely gardens to visitors to raise funds for the Parish Centre Regeneration.
Tickets will cost £3.50, will be available from May 1st, and will
include a garden guide and map. On the day, the Parish Centre will be open for ticket and plant sales and refreshments etc.
Can you help us make this a day to remember?
We will need:
– plants to sell in the Parish Centre on the day
– cakes, tray bakes, savouries for refreshments on the day
– helpers on the day to work in the Parish Centre.

PARISH CENTRE (PCMC) AGM
Wednesday 25th May at 7.30pm in the Parish Centre. Report and result of election from user groups to the PCMC – Parish Centre Management Committee. We’re very grateful to those who look after the centre for us – its hospitality, maintenance and finances.

CONGRATULATIONS to Kay Lancaster
We’re delighted that Kay Lancaster has been honoured by the Bishop with the St Thomas’ Award for her services to the church and community. Bishop Christopher visited Kay on Easter morning in The Rowans Hospice and gave her the medal. Please pray for Kay in the hope that she may be strong enough to attend the official service in the Cathedral during Evensong on 29 April at 6pm.

ALVERSTOKE APCM Elections
We’re grateful to all who made it to our AGM last Tuesday – a very positive meeting and celebration of the life of our faith community. We’re pleased to say that Kathryn Clarke and Kay Howard have been returned to serve as our Churchwardens; and that Tim Finch, Michael Thomas, Hazel Ward, Debbie Thomas and Trish Kelly have been appointed to serve on the Parochial Church Council. The next PCC meeting is Tuesday 8th May at 7.30pm in St.Francis.

GIRLGUIDING ANNUAL MAY FAIR
Girlguiding Alverstoke and Forton District are holding their annual MAY FAIR on Saturday 12th May 2018. Starting with the popular Parade through the Village at 1.50 pm by the May Queen, the fair opens at 2.00pm at the Parish Centre with lots of stalls run by the girls and their leaders including cakes, books, games, tombola, raffle, gifts and refreshments too. We hope to see you there!

FUNERALS
Please pray for Richard Kirkby and his and Jackie’s family as we host her funeral on Weds 25th April at 11.00am in St.Mary’s.
We also pray for Elaine Roberts whose husband Steve’s funeral is at 12noon on Monday 30th April in St.Mary’s.

DID YOU KNOW? GOSPORT SCOUTS HQ
The PCC are landlords of the Gosport Disctrict Scout HQ on the Brodrick Hall site. This is just to say that the 25 year lease ran out this last week but a new three year licence has been granted by the PCC allowing the HQ to continue with ‘business as usual’ to give confidence for the Scouts and any users who hire the Scout Hall.
