‘We will remember them’ on Sunday at St.Mary’s when our normal 9.15am and 10.45am services are cancelled in favour of the special Remembrance Service starting at 10.30am. We’ll dedicate the beautiful new stone floor to the war memorial and lay our wreaths. For the first time we have also framed the names of those from the parish who died in WW2 – there names are usually unseen on the memorial books behind the glass doors.
This year our Flower Guild members have joined with pupils from Alverstoke Junior School to create wreaths and window displays of blue cornflowers in keeping with the French war remembrance tradition of ‘Le Bluet’.

St.Francis’ Act of Remembrance commences at 10.45am followed by their usual service at 11.15am.

GIVE THANKS WITH A GRATEFUL HEART
Eph.1v16: ‘We never cease to give thanks for you’

VOLUNTEER THANK YOU CARDS – Today
It’s such a cause for thanksgiving that we’ve now identified over 260 volunteers in the life of the church serving the parish. If you’re currently volunteering then you should find a hand written thank you card at the back of St.Mary’s today. If you are a volunteer for the church and a card is not there then please forgive us – no one is meant to be missed because we are grateful for all that is offered in the Lord’s name. If that happens please write your name on the list and we can double check where is your card!
When he comes on 26th Bishop Christopher will lead us in an act of thanksgiving and dedication for all that is offered. We also recognise that many worshippers have been active in voluntary ministry in the past too – ministry which we honour – we’re just sorry that we can only reflect current volunteering with the cards even though we are grateful for all that has been offered over the years; thank you.

The ‘bread & fishes’ are offered
and now we give thanks to the Lord!
FAMILIES MINISTER PLEDGES
We struggled to believe that the pledges plus Gift Aid, with some one off gifts reached £14,000 last week – meaning that a part-time post would be possible. This week it is truly humbling to hear the annual fund has now reached £18,000 and keeps growing. Thank you for every single pledge and gift – the Lord seems to be at work in this grace!
Please pray for the Lord’s will to be done through this
missional role for which anyone may apply in January. Please see the Families Minister letter regarding Bread & Fishes and the 5000 young people of the parish!

CHURCH COLLAGE
We’re creating a Collage of every worshipper by asking you all to bring a passport sized photo of yourself to glue to the canvas in the south aisle in St.Mary’s. With this we hope to make a postcard in thankfulness for every person.

‘GIVING’ THANK YOU LETTER
Some letters remain for those who regularly give money to the church – please take one if you’ve not yet seen it –
although the stewardship tea has now passed! Thank you.

MUSIC, DRAMA, ART, MOVEMENT, LITURGY
For 2018 we seek to create a second worship band, along with having a drama group, the inspiration of some artists for worship, a dance/movement group, and those who may write prayers/liturgy. We have valued some of these in the past – let’s release such gifts again! The idea is the groups would meet in fellowship and prayer as they prepare – and then share their creativity once a month in worship. Please have a word with the clergy – especially if you can be a champion for one of these ministries.

CAROL SINGING IN THE HIGH STREET

NEEDED: MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY & WELCOME
The warmth of hospitality – expresses the Lord’s welcome to us all – is a growing hallmark at St.Mary’s. It relies upon every member looking out for their neighbour at worship. We seek four teams of six people to host morning coffee and be welcomers ahead of Church Alive. The teams are significantly depleted and so is this a ministry you could offer once a month? If so please contact Kathryn Clarke in church
