We couldn’t believe it in compiling a list of volunteers which has revealed how over 200 of you are serving the mission of the church in so many different ways throughout our parish. This is amazing and something for which we give thanks this October – all your time and talents offered to the Lord’s work. THANK YOU. We also appreciate that this is in addition to any other ways in which you serve the Lord in your workplace, at home or with charities.
We’re creating a Collage of every worshipper by asking you all to bring a passport sized photo of yourself to glue to the collage in the south aisle in St.Mary’s.
Kid’s too – let’s end up with 300 pictures as we give thanks for the fellowship we share together in the Lord. With this we hope to make a postcard in thankfulness.
PLEDGES FOR A FAMILIES MINISTER
Today’s the day we hope to receive any pledges in the
offertory from those who are happy to sponsor a Families Minister in 2018-2019 – thank you. We’re grateful that
already pledges and gifts have amounted to £4,000 per year towards this new post. If you are not familiar with this vision then please take both a flyer along with a letter from Andy Norris with further information about the post. Pledges are of course welcome in the days ahead too ready for the church council to discuss this on 14th Nov. Thank you.
MESSY CHURCH THIS AFTERNOON! 29th Oct.

‘GIVING’ THANK YOU LETTER
Over 150 folk regularly give money in a planned (signed-up) way to the church whilst others give cash in the offertory plate. We are so very grateful for every gift – thank you. Those who give regularly are invited to take a special cream
‘Thank You’ letter today from Andy, the Rector, who wants to express our shared thanks to you in the Lord.
HOW DO I GIVE TO THE CHURCH?
Regular giving out of love for the Lord is foundational to our life and mission as a church – and for it we are very grateful. To find out how to give we’re hosting a special TEA & CAKE on Sunday 5th November at 4.00pm in the Parish Centre providing an opportunity to hear from Tim Finch, Treasurer, with encouragement and practical information. All welcome.
‘ALL SAINTS SUNDAY’ SIGN-UP
We give thanks for those whom we love but see no longer – our saints whom we can remember on All Saints Sunday in a service of Thanksgiving at 6.30pm in St.Mary’s on 5th Nov. If you’d like a name to be read out in the service then please add their name to the list in St.Mary’s – thank you.
BARRIERS TO BELIEF – our new Thurs course
This Thurs we consider “Exclusive faith” – is the Christian claim to exclusive truth both judgemental and unreasonable? All Welcome – Parish Centre at 7.15pm with refreshments.
REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY 12th November
Please note that our services change for Remembrance. 8.00am Communion remains but 9.15am and Church Alive are replaced by a special Service of Remembrance at 10.30am when the new stone floor in St.Mary’s will also be dedicated. St.Francis’ Act of Remembrance commences at 10.45am followed by their service at 11.15am.
URGENT: MINISTRY OF HOSPITALITY & WELCOME
The warmth of hospitality – expresses the Lord’s welcome to us all – is a growing hallmark at St.Mary’s. It relies upon every member looking out for their neighbour at worship. We seek four teams of six people to host morning coffee and be welcomers ahead of Church Alive. The teams are significantly depleted and so is this a ministry you could offer once a month? If so please contact Kathryn Clarke in church or at

MUSIC, DRAMA, ART, MOVEMENT, LITURGY
For 2018 we seek to create a second worship band, along with having a drama group, the inspiration of some artists for worship, a dance/movement group, and those who may write prayers/liturgy. We have valued some of these in the past – let’s release such gifts again! The idea is the groups would meet in fellowship and prayer as they prepare – and then share their creativity once a month in worship. Please have a word with the clergy – especially if you can be a champion for one of these ministries.
