ALVERSTOKE PARISH APCM
The official AGM of the parish is to be held on Tuesday 11th April at 7.00pm in St.Mary’s Church. Elections for Churchwardens, four members of the Parochial Church Council and, this year, six members to Deanery Synod will be held in the context of reports, accounts and reflection from 2016. Could you serve on the PCC or Deanery Synod? Nomination forms for these rolls can be found at the back of St.Mary’s. The PCC meets bi-monthly on Tuesdays. To vote at the APCM worshippers need to join the Electoral Roll:

We’d love you to join by 27th March!
THE CHURCH ELECTORAL ROLL
You can express ‘belonging’ to a local CofE congregation through our ‘Church Electoral Roll’. It even gives you a vote at the annual meetings – so why not sign up? Application Forms are at the back of church to be returned to Sue in The Parish Office. In fact you can belong to more than one Electoral Roll and don’t even have to be an ‘anglican’ as it is about this parish rather than the CofE! Application closure date is 27th March, two weeks before our Annual Parochial Church Meeting.

SERVING & GIVING
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father… encourage your
hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2 Thess 2v16)

EAST AFRICA CRISIS APPEAL
Our partnership is for women and girls in southern Ethiopia – this is an area now facing famine through drought.
Christian Aid, Worldvision and TEAR Fund are part of the Disasters Emergency Committee which has launched a famine appeal due to the extended drought leading to famine for 16 million people in South Sudan, Northern Kenya, Somalia and Southern Ethiopia. Visit their websites if you’d like to give through those agencies – www.tearfund.org www.christianaid.org.uk worldvision.org.uk

LENT APPEAL – Stop the Traffik
During Lent, we’re invited to support ‘Stop the Traffik’.
This is through the Bishop’s Lent Appeal which he has called ‘From Slavery to Freedom’. The Bishop explains in the leaflets and gift envelopes in church why he has chosen to raise vital funds for Stop the Traffik and also to start a fund for domestic abuse locally.

CHAPLAIN / AIDE FOR THE RECTOR
Although it seems strange for a vicar to warrant such support this parish is such that we’re delighted to say that Revd Hazel O’Sullivan has agreed to offer administrative and chaplaincy support to Andy. Please note therefore that Hazel now has sight of Andy’s emails and correspondence and may reply on his behalf.

DECORATE THE PARISH CENTRE HALL!
We’re planning work parties to freshen up the Parish Centre Hall.
Saturday 27th May to clean and prepare the Hall.
Saturday 3rd May to paint the Hall. The SMILE and A.Men ladies and men’s groups may have a special ‘call up’ for 3rd May – with breakfast to start! But as always everyone will be very welcome.
