CHILDREN’S YOUTH & FAMILIES
The open meeting in January was very positive both in celebrating the range of activities for children, youth and families; in recognising how our ministry must provide nurture for a deeper faith and discipleship; in seeking to plug the gaps and strengthen our teams in doing this. We seek leaders for a new youth cell for 10-13s whilst we’re pleased to start the following:

New OLDER YOUTH CELL (14 -16+)
2nd & 4th Wednesdays during term.
7.30-8.45pm at 6 Carlong Way PO12 1LN with Clare & Tim Watson. For Bible Study – Prayer – Nibbles.
Starts 8th March – Creation & Fall
22nd March – God’s Faithfulness
12th April – Cross & Resurrection
Contact the Watsons to book a place: 023 9243 9737

BREAKTHROUGH YOUTH CLUB
Fridays during term time, 7.30pm in The Parish Centre.
We’re so grateful to our leaders who have recently stepped down but who worked so hard for our Youth Club on Friday nights – thank you for all you’ve given. We’re thankful too for new helpers, Tara & Rachel, whose support to Anne & Ed Ross with Laurie means Breakthrough continues to serve over 30 teenagers each week.

THERE’S ROOM…
for just one more couple to join The Marriage Course which now starts from this Wednesday 8th February at 7.30pm. If it should be you then please have a word with Andy or Libby Norris.

PILGRIMS
Our weekly fellowship and Bible study continues at 7.15pm on Thursday 9th February in the Parish Centre looking at James.

PARISH LUNCHEON
Our popular lunch is next on Valentine’s Day at 12.30pm in the Parish Centre – Tuesday 14th February. All Welcome. £6. RSVP the Parish Office to reserve a place.

ST.FAITH’S CONGREGATIONAL MEETING
We shall have a special meeting after morning worship on Sunday 12th February to end with a soup lunch. A time to discuss the future vision and continuation of St.Faith’s.
This meeting is for those for whom St.Faith’s is the church to which they belong and where they primarily worship.

SERVING & GIVING
May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father… encourage your
hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2 Thess 2v16)

DAFFODIL POTS FOR ETHIOPIA 12th Feb
Last October the young people from the 9.15am & Church Alive services planted 100 pots of daffodil bulbs and decorated them to be sold in the spring. The bulbs are growing well and will be on sale in St.Mary’s on Sunday 12th February for a minimum donation of £1. All proceeds to the Ethiopia fund.

Hospitality HELPERS NEEDED!
Do you like offering hospitality? Or can you welcome people to worship? If so, whether a 9.15am or 10.45am worshipper – can you help in the practical task of setting up our coffee and refreshments at Mary’s or offer the welcome at the door for Church Alive? This has proven to be a vital ministry and after
a visit by some of the congregation from St.Ann’s in the dockyard in January the Naval Chaplain said:
Thank you for making us all welcome. It was very enjoyable and a pleasure to see a positive, growing church in action!
So thank you to all on the Welcome Teams and all Sidesmen, and those who’ve previously served. But now, to maintain this positive hospitality we need new members to join our four teams on duty once a month. Please have a word with the clergy or Churchwardens if you could possibly help as a member of a team – thank you so much.

SEEK PERSONAL PRAYER AT ST.MARY’S? Following their autumn training, two members of our renewed team of 12, will be available to pray with anyone who seeks prayer between 10.15am-10.45am in the Sanctuary each week.

SPRING CLEAN THANK YOU
Very many thanks to local Guides and to congregation for getting the dusters out and helping to Spring Clean St.Mary’s yesterday.

MARRIAGE COURSE HOSPITALITY Puddings!
During the Marriage Course we shall offer desserts. If you are happy to make a dessert for one or more evenings then please sign the list at the back of our churches and we’ll be in touch to co-ordinate the puds that we seek – thank you very much.

DONATE YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFTS Calories
Thank you very much for a good selection of unwanted Christmas gifts delivered to the Parish Centre – their excellent and very tempting. So, I hope you’re pleased we’ve relieved you of the temptation. A last call with this notice for a while – but any such items of unwanted chocolates, bottles, candles, novelty items etc will continue to be welcome in supporting the fundraising for our new Parish Centre – thank you.

BABY & TODDLERS’ GROUP SESSION LEADER
Please pray for the interviews and appointment of a new leader for the Baby & Toddlers Groups on Tuesday – thank you.

EWE MATTER
As part of our pioneering ministry we’re really excited to be partnering with Leesland Infant and Junior Schools to purchase a big model of a sheep! Church schools within the diocese are being encouraged to purchase and decorate big model sheep (a bit like the Marwell Zoo Zebras in Southampton). The idea is that the infant school will be represented by a sheep, the junior school will be represented by a sheep and the church will be represented by a sheep. Each sheep will also represent one of the Christian values held by the schools, LOVE, GRACE, RESPECT. The sheep will be on display at the schools and will visit the cathedral for the Year Six leavers service in the summer.
There are forms at the back of church which will give you more information about the project. We need to raise £185 and are seeking sponsors. Ewe know it makes sense! Revd Tim Watson.

CHURCHES TOGETHER FOR THE HOMELESS
Thank you to those who donated items for homeless people in Gosport just before Christmas. More are needed, so please leave in the Parish Office any sleeping bags, coats, hats, gloves, socks, trainers, thermals, underwear, toiletries etc.that you can spare.
Also if you have one Sunday lunch time per month free would you help, either cooking or welcoming, at Christ Church, Stoke Road with providing a hot meal?  Diana Dow 92 528122.

FIRST AID TRAINING & CHURCH WORK
Breakthrough Youth Club and St.Mary’s Junior Sailing Club are seeking to arrange First Aid Training (6hrs) to renew certificates on a Saturday or Sunday. Please let Andy Norris know if, for the activity you run/help at church, you also may need to undertake the training and have a First Aid Certificate – thanks. Certificates are to be renewed every 3 years.
