SERVING & GIVING
Acts 4v32: ‘they did not claim their possessions as their own, but they shared everything they had… in God’s grace’

CAN YOU HELP AT THE MICHAELMAS FAYRE?
As a church we run the two official fayre stalls with information and official fayre raffle, plus we can offer church information and hope to sell tickets for our autumn Barn Dance. Can you offer help to this for part of the afternoon on 24th September?

@ ST.FRANCIS’ GIFT DAY TODAY
Thank you to everyone who raised £162 at the cream tea towards the fencing. St.Francis’ welcomes Revd Colin Chambers today for our gift day in support in support of St George’s Foundation (caring for street children in Sierra Leone).

THE ALVERSTOKE TRUST (Help?)
An independent charity for the relief of those in need in the parish distributes up to £1500 a year in small grants. Information and applications via the Parish Website. Meeting twice a year, the Trustees seek a new colleague to be nominated to join them. Please have a word with the Rector if you’d be
interested to serve the community in this capacity.

OUR NEW ETHIOPIA PARTNERSHIP
‘Healthier Futures for Women & Girls’
We shall have a special parish Gift Day for our
new ‘Healthier Futures’ partnership at Harvest
on 25th September.

With Christian Aid and their partners on the ground we are supporting women and families in Ethiopia overcome the challenges they face from poverty which fuels selling girls to marriage as children followed by high maternal and child mortality. A situation of suffering, of dangerous abortion, of harmful traditional practices, of gender inequality and lack of access to family planning, health and educational services.

With £1000 already in the bank we seek to raise an additional £4000 by October 2017 which will then be multiplied to £30000 by the EU.

Can you organise a fundraising event for this?
If any would be willing to donate regularly by Standing
Order or BACS then please pay to our special account of
St.Mary’s Alverstoke PCC (it’s at Lloyds TSB plc, Gosport)
Account Number: 01077703 Sort Code: 30-93-56
If you can please code your gift as ‘ETHIOPIA’.
Any gifts in envelopes marked for ‘Ethiopia’ will always be
welcome in the offertory at any time – thank you.
Have you signed up with us so we can collect any Gift Aid?
Thank you for sharing in this Africa partnership for the poor.

COME & SING IN AUGUST
at our ‘informal’ open Choir Rehearsals on Thursdays from 7.00pm-8.00pm. Coffee and Cake! To find out about singing with St.Mary’s Choir – all welcome – enter by Choir Vestry door.

PARISH CENTRE REGENERATION NEWS
Even as we await the first drawings from architects the fundraising has started enabling us to get the project to renew our Parish Centre underway. We’re so grateful to The Strawberry Lunch team for £817, to the Scrap Happy Quilters (from the show) for £1000, to Alverstoke WI for £500 and the regeneration committee for £54 from their coffee at meetings! After the Coffee Morning our balance is about £3500. Thank you all.

‘Shaping the Future’
Final presentation on 3rd Aug:
SIDE AISLE PEWS & THE WAR MEMORIAL
Following pew consultations in May 2015, a new presentation of our plans to make good the side aisles and provide a stone floor to dignify the War Memorial will be made in St.Mary’s on Weds 3rd August 11am. We hope this may lead to application for a Faculty this autumn for work in Spring 2017.
Many thanks to those who regularly give to our ‘Shaping the Future’ fund which allows us to develop and to grow.
