ETHIOPIA PARTNERSHIP LAUNCH DAY

FOOD & TOILETRIES FOR ARC
There is a basket at the back of St.Mary’s which
invites regular donations of imperishable groceries and toiletries which are most valued by Gosport’s
Accommodation Resource Centre. A Christian
charity, ARC supports homeless young people with steps into accommodation from their poverty. Thank you for all that is offered in the basket.
Please note that all offerings at Harvest shall be for the BASICS BANK.
RECORD BREAKING CHRISTIAN AID WEEK
Very many thanks to all the team who delivered a record breaking Christian Aid Week in the parish this year, bucking the
national trends you’ve collected an amazing total of £3613!
NEXT CHRISTIAN BOOKSTALL IN ST.MARY’S
Sunday 24th July at coffee time.
SERVING TEENAGERS – 100 each week!
We need more helpers/leaders for our youth ministry on Sunday mornings (immediate) and on Friday nights (September). A few extra folk may allow rotas so we can at least be covered with enough each week. Please have a word with Andy or Chris to find out more and see if it could be you. Thank you.
We are privileged to connect with about 100 young people each week in the summer through the Friday Breakthrough, Sunday groups, Junior Choir and our Junior Sailing Club. Thank you to our amazing teams who serve them.
PARISH FINANCES – Thank you
After six months of this year we are grateful to be able to report that our income and expenditure are pretty much breaking even. There are challenges but thanks to your generosity through increased giving and the success of the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) we are grateful to the Lord that we are in a much better position than the ‘cash flow’ melt down we faced last summer (plus projected £40000 deficit!). The Parish Giving Scheme added to Standing Order giving has grown from 98 givers last July to 126 this year whilst the giving has risen from under £4000 per month last July to over £6000 a month this year. In addition others continue to value giving by envelopes and in other ways – it is all greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for this faithfulness!
PARISH GIVING SCHEME – leaflet at back!
Over time most giving will be through the new Parish Giving Scheme. If you do not yet use it as a means to give then please have a word to discover the benefits over Standing Orders and envelopes. Forms are available at the back of church for this safe and comprehensive scheme which returns tax to us in just 12 days!
GOOD NEWS – TRASH CAFE STARTS
The first of a new weekly Trash Cafe in Leesland was warmly welcomed at its launch last week at St.Faith’s – a pioneering partnership with Tim and the Trash Cafe team (Real Junk Food Project) whose provisions are supermarket ‘sell by’ donations.
CHRISTMAS DINNER HELP!
Would you be interested in helping to provide lunch on Christmas Day for those who might otherwise be alone? St.Faith’s Lee on Solent are looking to host one and would value a team to help. firstname.lastname@example.org
MEMORY GROUP & DEMENTIA ADVICE DROP-IN

Shaping the Future:
SIDE AISLE PEWS & THE WAR MEMORIAL
Following pew consultations in May 2015, new presentations of our plans to make good the side aisles and provide a stone floor to dignify the War Memorial will be made in St.Mary’s. The first is on: Tues 19th July at 7.30pm followed by Thurs 21st July 2pm; Weds 27th July 7.30pm and Weds 3rd August 11am. We hope this may lead to application for a Faculty this autumn for work in Spring 2017. The PCC are discussing this on Tuesday this week and will make a final decision in August following the presentations.
Many thanks to those who regularly give to our ‘Shaping the Future’ fund which allows us to develop and to grow.
