CHRISTIAN AID WEEK: 15th – 21st May
Thank you so much to all the collectors and donors for Christian Aid Week. It’s not too late to get our gift envelopes in! Thank you also to Philippa Harrap and her team both for the organisation and in hosting last night’s brilliant Quiz & Curry Night for Christian Aid.
TODAY: ST.MARY’S GIFT DAY FOR MUSIC PA
We’ll make this Sunday an ‘informal’ gift day in seeking donations towards the cost of providing a PA system to support our music in St.Mary’s and for a keyboard.
At the time of installing the main PA we were guided to provide different equipment for the provision of music. We have benefitted from borrowed equipment but now is the time to provide what is proven to be needed. The borrowed ‘demo’ keyboard was very effective last Sunday and so now one has been acquired!
A final sum of £3600 is made up by the keyboard at £1200 and the PA at £2400.
Donations on Sunday or at any time thereafter from folk who see the value of this and would like to make a gift would be greatly appreciated. Gifts in the special one-off gift ‘yellow’ envelopes additionally labelling them for ‘Worship PA’ would be wonderful – or by bank transfer making sure to inform Tim, our Treasurer please. Cheques to ‘St.Mary’s Shaping The Future’. All either in our offertory plates or to the Parish Office in the week. Thank you very much indeed for your support.
ST.FRANCIS’ ‘FRIENDS WITHOUT BORDERS’
Next Sunday 9th May St.Francis’ Church welcome guests from the former ‘Haslar Visitors Group’ whose charity continues to support asylum seekers, refugees and immigrants in the Porstmouth area. An offering will be taken in support of this vital work. If you can’t get along then any gifts to the Parish Office will be forwarded to St.Francis special collection.
PARISH CENTRE MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE
We’re grateful to Bill Lock and Richard Strong who have faithfully served us as Chairman and Treasurer of our Parish Centre for a number of years. Thank you both as you hand over these roles. Peter Ford is our new Treasurer. Members of the committee work hard on our behalf and we thank them all – Ivor & Laurie, Fee, Jan, Carol, Peter and Sue; along with our dedicated
decorators and handymen – thank you all.
