LICENSING FOR REVD TIM WATSON
Many Thanks to all who hosted our worship and who came to the very special licensing service and procession for Tim & Clare, Evie & Lucie. Revd Humphrey summed it up by saying: “it was the best Licensing I have ever been to.”
With special thanks to Laurie, Sue & Jan who hosted the wonderful lunch. Thanks also to those who accommodated the change in your usual pattern of worship enabling last Sunday to be so special.

Our regular Thursday evenings together, midweek church for some, starts a new pattern this week from 7.15pm in the Parish Centre. All welcome whenever you can come!
Following refreshments and 20 mins of worship & prayer, the hour long learning will now offer two options:

‘The Miracles of Jesus’ (Deeper Connections series).

ST.MARY’S HOSTING A CONFERENCE!
All Fareham & Gosport parishes are joining together here in St.Mary’s on Thursday 19th May from 7.15pm for an evening entitled: MAKING CONNECTIONS – Different Ways of Doing Church! Please join us for this evening as we host many guests and consider different ways of being the CofE for the future! Organised by the Cross-Deanery Education Group.

St.Francis’ GARDENING & COFFEE MORNINGS
Saturday 7th May:  Garden Tidy for the morning at St Francis, please bring your own tools.  Weather permitting.
Saturday 14th May: Coffee Morning from 9.45 to 11.30am cakes, bric-a-brac, plants, fair trade.  Thanks for your support.

ST.MARY’S LADIES EVENING Weds 11th
Please join us for our next SMILE, an evening stroll along the beach followed by a drink in The Old Lodge!
If you are unable to make the walk, please join us for a drink.
On 11th May we plan to meet at the Parish Centre at 6:45pm, leaving at 7pm and returning to The Old Lodge by 8pm.

NATIONAL CALL TO ‘WEEK OF PRAYER’
We shall host prayer events each day from 9th – 15th May up to Pentecost at the behest of the Archbishops. Prayers for the nation, the world and our community. Details to follow.

LOVING SERVICE & GIVING

CHRISTIAN AID WEEK: 15th – 21st May
Philippa Harrap is coordinating our parish collections for Christian Aid week this year. Many thanks to those who have traditionally collected about £2500 each year for us. New collectors are sought – could you walk a road and help in this? Please have a word with Philippa in St.Mary’s or contact her via the Parish Office or email at nrpjhmum@aol.com. Thanks.

ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING
We’re grateful to 90 folk for attending last Tuesday. It was a pleasure to welcome 22 new members to the Electoral Roll. Bill Lock and Kathryn Clarke were appointed to continue as our Churchwardens. Newly elected members joining the PCC are David Nicholls (St.Francis), Vicki Metcalf, Jo Fryer, George Payne and Kim Beazley. Tim Finch, our Treasurer, reported on the accounts with thanksgiving for all your generous giving which reduced our deficit on the year to under £4000 when last August it was threatening to be nearly £40,000! Thank you so much for all you give and the solid footing for 2016.

ST.MARY’S SEEKS A ‘SACRISTAN’
Could it be you? We’re grateful to Anne Charlesworth for preparing St.Mary’s for communion services for 30 years. Anne stops at the end of April and is happy to train anyone who may be happy to do this. Please see Peter Camp if you can help.

FRIENDS OF ST.MARY’S AGM
Our Friends AGM is on 7th May at 7.00pm in the Parish Centre including our guest GAFIRS, Keith Thomas will speak, ending with Cheese and Wine. Details from Peter Camp.

GIRLGUIDING MAY FAIR
The Parish Centre from 2.00pm-4.00pm on Saturday 14th May. Stalls, games, cakes, refreshments and much more.

QUEEN’S 90th BIRTHDAY STREET PARTY
Lunchtime on Sunday 12th June in Alverstoke Village Centre around the Chestnut Tree. From 12noon-3.00pm – music, tables and seating for 250 – bring your picnic hamper, find a seat and join our community celebration!

SUMMER QUILTING FESTIVAL
Our local Scrap Happy quilters are displaying their beautiful works at the Quilting Festival in St.Mary’s from 3rd – 5th June 2016. Save the date and come to enjoy their wonderful craft.
