ST.FAITH’S CHRISTMAS FAYRE – 5th Dec
St Faith’s Church, Tribe Road, Come and join us for a Christmas Fayre and Coffee morning.  On Saturday 5th December 2015 from 10.00am until 12.00noon.  Stalls, games, raffle light refreshments no admission charge.

We’re delighted you’ve come. You’re very welcome here and we hope that you will simply join in as you feel comfortable. Sitting & listening, standing and singing – just as you wish. You should have been greeted with a Pew Sheet and any books needed for the service. Please ask the stewards if you need help and do take a ‘WELCOME’ booklet and a complimentary copy of our ‘Parish News’ away with you.

CHRISTMAS SUPPER & ENTERTAINMENT
Hosted by St. Mary’s Choir Saturday 5th December 7.00pm Parish Centre – traditional Christmas Dinner plus seasonal songs and fun! – Tickets £12, students £7 from Paul Pilott on Sundays at church or Parish Office, in aid of Choir funds. All welcome when we pack the Parish Centre for this happy evening.

CHRISTMAS TREE FESTIVAL 11th-13th December
Full steam ahead. Bring your friends along – over 80 trees now allocated and 900 musicians! A very moving celebration which prompts 700+ prayer requests from over 3000 visitors and remembers so many loved ones.

DEANERY ADVENT CAROL SERVICE 6.00pm
The choir shall be singing tonight at 6.00pm at St.Faith, Lee on Solent. A united service for all Gosport congregations. Please note that there will be NO evening
service at St.Mary’s.

NEW AJS SCHOOL VALUES : Grace, Hope, Love
Bishop Christopher has rearranged his diary to visit St.Mary’s on 2nd December at 9.30am for a special service. The children of Alverstoke CE Junior School (Aided) will be celebrating their new school values of: Sharing God’s Grace with Hope and Love.
Parents and members of the congregation would be welcome to come alone.

NEW PIONEERING MINISTER
Candidates are now being shortlisted – please pray for them and for the Bishop and those involved in interviews on 8th-9th December. The candidates will ‘view’ the parish on 8th December. Pray too for St.Faith’s at the hub of this new ministry and for the Leesland school and community.

You’d always be welcome at Cornerstone Bookshop (Bemisters Lane) in Gosport, but should you be able to get along then Val McKinley is going to host a monthly bookstall over coffee at St.Mary’s. This Sunday with many Christmas books.

St.Mary’s has published a wonderful coffee table book called THE ALVERSTOKE ALPHABET.
It makes a great gift for Christmas. A display copy can be seen at the back of St.Mary’s alongside wrapped copies. You are welcome to take one (or more!) on trust and then pay £15 per copy to the Parish Office.

Are you among the 600 households who take the monthly parish magazine? It’s a good way to keep in touch and read about other community groups and events as well as the church. Take a copy today from the back of church – call the Parish Office and order a copy monthly, it is great value and can even be delivered to you. Let’s boost the numbers up from 600!

TOWN CAROL SINGING
Churches Together for Gosport invite us to sing Carols for
one hour at the Town Hall from 11.00am on 12th December. Come and sing for the Christmas shoppers!

NEW ‘WELCOME & HOSPITALITY’ TEAMS
We’d like to form 5 teams of 5 or 6 people to host our morning coffee at St.Mary’s and to welcome folk to worship for 10.45am. If this could be you then please join us for a short meeting in the Chapel after Church Alive today – thank you.

ST.MARY’S MORNING PRAYER MUSIC
At 9.15 Morning Prayer services 13th Dec & 10th Jan we shall be singing well known Advent and New Year hymns respectively instead of the Venite and Jubilate canticles. The choir will lead the singing of the Psalm to a familiar chant formerly used at Matins. Paul Pilott

Following speaking to the AEC Men’s Breakfast yesterday, our Rector, Andy Norris, would value your prayers for his visit St.Jude’s Southsea to speak at their special Advent Guest Carol Service this afternoon at 4.00pm; and to speak at the Gosport Churches Carol Singing by the Town Hall from 11am on 12th December.
