Your church needs you …
THREE SPECIAL MEETINGS
The Christian Church is growing.
Although the challenges in the UK
are tough they are not insurmountable. So how does Christ’s church grow here? Jesus’ Church needs you! It starts with our own expectation and the culture we offer across the parish – it starts with each one of us as we look to God. You make the difference between growth or decline!
We are all therefore invited to three special meetings for three sessions, Part 1 from the anglican course: ‘Leading Your Church Into Growth’. In the Parish Centre from 7.30pm on Thursdays 17th & 24th Sept and 1st October. The sessions are listed overleaf with the Sunday themes.

MICHAELMAS FAYRE – Church volunteers?
The Alverstoke village fayre organised by the church and the Rotary Club of Gosport is on 26th September. The church hosts two stalls for the fayre selling tickets along with parish promotional information. During the fayre congregational volunteers are needed both to man the stalls and to be welcoming Stewards in the open Church. Please have a word with Andy Norris for the stalls, and Peter Camp about stewarding, thank you.

SEPTEMBER’S SUNDAY THEME
Growing the Church – naturally!
In September we shall explore the first three
sessions of the diocesan sponsored course:
Leading Your Church into Growth.
6th September: Our Focus – Committing
ourselves to growth.
13th September: Our Plan – Developing a strategy for growth and doing it!
20th September: Our Culture – Developing a Community of Invitation, Welcome and Hospitality.
A second set of 3 weeks will take place in January.

OCTOBER’S SUNDAY THEME
First Fruits & Tithes
We shall think about Christian Stewardship and have a promotion of the new diocesan Parish
Giving Scheme. We’ll discover new ways of
giving of our money to God including the scheme that makes our giving go further and recovers the Gift Aided Tax immediately!
27th September: Harvest First Fruits & Tithes
4th October: Everything comes from you
11th October: Lay up Treasure in Heaven
18th October: The Grace of Giving
25th October: Giving cheerfully!

TALKING ABOUT MONEY – Thank you.
We’re very grateful to all who have responded in giving in the light of the parishes financial struggle. All your giving across the whole congregation is very much appreciated – thank you.
We are due to host a full Stewardship campaign in October to introduce the new CofE Parish Giving Scheme. But until then, we’re grateful to any who are able to respond to our deficit now by new
giving or one of gifts – thank you very much.
For more information or for Standing Order and Gift Aid forms please contact the Parish Office.

FUNERAL at St.Mary’s
We’re sorry to say that Betty Price has died. Her funeral service will be on 21st August at 2.30pm. Known by so many along with her husband Dai who was a priest in the parish.

DID YOU KNOW? QUILT UNVEILING
For a few years local quilters have been creating wonderful images of buildings in the village to be The Alverstoke Quilt. This arose out of a parish
meeting involving Revd Ted Goodyer in 2012.
The Alverstoke Quilt is now ready to be unveiled by the Mayor of Gosport and will be dedicated on Friday 28th August in the Parish Centre where it will remain on display or, in due course, in the church too at a suitable times for all to see.
