“That’s why we are ‘Church Alive!’ “ – exclaimed the Archdeacon of the Meon, The Ven Gavin Collins, in launching our new service on 26th October.  The anticipation and joy was tangible among 140 worshippers, across all ages – including the buzz of children, at the first Church Alive service in St.Mary’s.  It was almost as though the songs of praises were joining those of the angels proclaiming God’s love and glory from the church rooftops – such was the atmosphere!   Reflecting on being bound together in God’s love (from Colossians 3), the mimed reading rolled out 100m of ribbon which embraced the congregation with its prayer of love and unity.

From the coffee and breakfast foods (someone even bought a box of Krispy Kreme donuts!), to the children on their new bean bags with streamers; from one local student travelling all the way from Worcester just to be there for this launch to the Archdeacon announcing a diocesan mission grant of £6000 towards our AV & PA installation to allow Church Alive to grow – the celebration was of pure delight leading to a moving and spontaneous applause.  To all who were there… thank you for joining in and all of your encouragement.

If you were away and missed it, don’t worry –  Church Alive!  is every week, hope to see you there!
